Jere Cox and Eddy Clark brought us "Gibson County Illustrated" which is an invaluable source for researching the county. They scanned and placed the pages on the Gibson Co. web site. What I have in mind (with their permission) is to transcribe the pages and have them on the Gibson County TN web site also. The reasoning behind this is to have the entire book "searchable" with one of the search engines on the page. Presently they are in .jpg image format which cannot be searched. The transcription will not only make searching a snap but also the transcribed pages will load faster. I'll incorporate the photos into the transcribed text, too and perhaps even create a photo index. So I'm looking for volunteers to transcribe pages of "Gibson County Illustrated". You'll be transcribing from the .jpg images already on the page. The transcriptions will be done in Wordpad in plain text format, sent to me and I'll make the web page. Please email me privately and let me know which pages you would like to transcribe.
