    2. Vicki and all Following is the an obit for Cassandra Boykin Burton, daughter of John Burwell Boykin and Elizabeth Jones. Elizabeth Jones' dad was a lawyer in Trenton from 1865 until he died in 1895. John Burwell Boykin was also a lawyer. He moved to Greene Co., AR in 1880 and died there in 1890. Lizzie and her three children returned to Trenton. Reference Chattanooga Times March 30, 1977, page 7. Death Notice BURTON- Mrs. Cassandra (Cassie) Boykin, of 2000 Sunset Terrace, died Monday in a local nursing home after a lingering illness. She was one of this area's most noted teachers, having come here from Nashville in 1920 as supervisor of county schools. She later taught at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Extension Department from whence she taught classes throughout East and Middle Tennessee until her retirement in 1960. Until her illness she was active in First Christian Church, where she taught a Sunday school class for 43 years. She was a member of the Betsey Ross Chapter of the DAR, Authors and Artists Club, Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teachers sorority, Huguenot Society, Missionary Ridge Garden Club and Chattanooga Area Literacy Movement. She received her BA degree from Peabody Teachers College in Nashville, masters degree from Vanderbilt, and completed graduate work at Columbia University in New York, University of Chicago, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and two universities in Canada. She was the widow of Charles Winston Burton, who taught industrial trades at City High School for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Calvin (Sandra) Knapp of Tacoma, Wash. and five grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Wann Funeral Home.
