    3. Humboldt,Tennessee Friday June16th,1916 LOCAL NEWS---Mrs.J.C.Givens was called here by the death of her father,Mr.Winstead. The remains of Mrs.Marshall were brought here Sunday from Gadsden for burial in Oakwood Cemetery. DEATH---W.T.WINSTEAD,who resided with his family on Fork Hill,was run over and killed by the north bound local freight on the M.& O.railroad while it was switching in the Yard Monday morning.He was 60 years of age and is survived by his wife and six children. DEATH---MRS.LYDE COTTON died at her residence in Dyersburg Monday.She was 74 years old,related to several families in Humboldt.She was born in Rutherford County and moved to Dyersburg in 1873 when she married Thomas Cotton.She leaves her daughter,Nell Cotton,her two sons,Harry & Dan Cotton.Mr.N.M.Stewart attended. the funeral. DEATH---CURTIS STEPHENSON,about 22 years of age ,was killed Sunday morning when he fell between the cars of an Illinois Central train.He caught the train intending to go to Medina. NEWS AMONG OUR NEIGHBORS--- MRS. EMMA HARRISON BLOCK and MRS.MARY GAUGH,both well-known ladies of Jackson,died at their homes in that city,Saturday morning.Mrs.Block was 71 years old and Mrs.Gaugh was 58. Mr.& Mrs.Victor R.Kernodle of the 12th District lost her 5 year-old son,Glen,on Friday,June 2nd.The remains were buried at Concord Church on Saturday. MRS.HIGHT,aged 87,died at her home in Milan on Thursday of last week.The remains were buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. MRS.HATTIE CARTER died last week at the home of her nephew,Hardy Martin at Milan.She was 75.Burial in Carter's graveyard. TULUS ROGERS,a citizen of the section just north of Trenton,died on Wednesday of last week.Burial in Grier's Chapel graveyard.He leaves his wife and four children. Two houses,the residences of Sam Wood & J.S.Clark,east of Trenton,were blown to pieces by the big storm on Monday night of last week,no one was hurt. NEWS FROM SALEM---The Death Angel visited the home of Mr.George Todd,and claimed for it's victim,Mrs.Todd's mother,Mrs.Marshall,who had been suffering for a long time. WEEKS DOINGS OF MEDINA PEOPLE---Rev.Alvin West,of Jackson,conducted the funeral service of Mr.Curtis Stephenson Monday afternoon at Hopewell Tabernacle.He leaves a brother and two sisters. The death of MR.JOE J.PARRISH,which occurred Tuesday evening after an illness of several months,removes one of the oldest citizens of Medina.He was in his 83 year.Interment at Hope Hill Cemetery. Mr.CLAY BARNES,a farmer living east of Medina on the Spring Creek Road,died Wednesday morning of paralysis.Burial in Hope Hill Cem. He is survived by his wife ,two daughters and one son.
