INTERESTING NEWS FROM GIBSON---E.L.Cannon and wife,of Martin,attended the funeral of their mother,Mrs.Maggie Bass,Wednesday. Mrs.Maggie Bass,widow of Wm.B.Bass,died Tuesday at the home of her daughter,Mrs.J.W.Olive at Eaton.The funeral was held at Eldad Wednesday.She was Miss Maggie Scruggs when she became the wife of Mr.James Cannon;to this union was born E.L.Cannon of Martin;R.D.Cannon of Trenton;and Mrs.Vannie Cannon Olive of Eaton.Her second marriage was to W.B.Bass.To them were born three boys;Hearn,Duke and Matt Bass.Matt died about two years ago.She is also survived by step-children;Brett Bass of Gibson and Mrs.Effie Coleman of Pinson. ELDAD ITEMS---Mr.Charlie Hunt of Hickman,KY.,died at the home of his brother,Luther Hunt last Thursday,5 p.m. The remains were laid to rest Friday in Eldad Cemetery. TENNESSEE NEWS BRIEFLY TOLD---An early morning fire destroyed the residence of Dr.C.B.Geisinger at Mason Monday. The 6 year-old son of Will Patrick,a farmer residing near Liberty,in Tipton County,died Sunday from the effectsof falling into a pot of boiling water Saturday.The child was swinging when the rope broke and he fell into the wash boiler. T.J.Bradshaw,aged 52;a well known cattleman of Dyer County,committed suicide at Dyersburg Saturday.The rash act was committed in the home of his son. Willie Chase,14 year-old son of I.A.Chase of Memphis,was shot by a negro gunman Sunday morning.The boy,with several playmates,was sitting on the curbing of the street near his home,when the negro came along and the boys made a remark about him.The negro answered,"I am a bad negro,'and shot into the crowd of boys.Young Chase was shot in the groin,and is in St.Joseph's Hospital
