The remains were brought here last Thursday evening.Services were held at Union,a few miles from this city,Friday afternoon.He is survived by his wife and several children. L.D.SPIGHT and daughter,Miss LINDSEY,attended the funeral of Rev.Tom SPIGHT at Ripley,Miss.,last week. ---CROCKETT COUNTY NEWS FROM ALAMO---The many friends of Mr.& Mrs.Herbert Cates are congratulating them on the safe arrival of a baby girl on April 26th,at their home in Bells,Tennessee. News was phoned yesterday,only meager though,of the death of Dr.B.BRANCH at his home in Collierville,Tennessee. ---LOCAL NEWS HAPPENINGS IN AND ABOUT TOWN---Mr.J.T.GAGE of Bethel Springs,Tennessee,spent several days last week with his cousin.J.R. CHANDLER. Mr.J.O.LOVE,who has been confined to his bed for the past three weeks,suffering from a sprained back,is slowly improving. ---INTERESTING NEWS FROM GIBSON---Mrs.Herbert MIDYETT and Rev.Ross Davis are visiting their mother,Mrs.W.G.DAVIS. ---COXVILLE ITEMS, RFD #10,CROCKETT---Mr.J.M.COX attended the HERRON-OSLER wedding at Jackson last Saturdaay.Dr.HERRON carried him through his serious illness last summer,hence the invitation. Mr.& Mrs.Joe REEVES are the proud parents of a fine new girl in their home,she having arrived Monday night to gladden their hearts. Mr.Dave COGBURN,the most aged citizen of this community,left for St.Louis Tuesday,where he expects to make his future home with his daughter. ---INTERESTING NEWS FROM GIBSON---Roy MORGAN,aged 36 years,died at St.Joseph Hospital early Wednesday morning,after a short illness of BrightÂ’s disease.He was taken sick last Tuesday and grew worse until Sunday night,when he was removed to the hospital but it continued to grow worse until death relieved him. Mr.Will SHERROD and Mr.& Mrs.R.L.DAWSON were with him when the end came.The body was laid to rest in White Rose Cemetery, Trenton,Tenn. ---DAVIDSON CHAPEL---T.H.CONNELL and Beulah MULLINS were married Sunday morning at the home of Rev.W.J.McLEAN who pronounced the ceremony. ---WALNUT GROVE 6th DISTRICT---The neighbor hood was saddened last week by the death of Mr.George COLEMAN,an aged and highly respected citizen of this section.He was 69 years old;was reared in Williamson County,and came to Gibson County as a young man.He was married to Miss Luvenial NEAL in 1862.To this union three children were born,namely:Jno.W.COLEMAN, Thos. COLEMAN, and Mrs.James GAY.The remains were laid to rest in Olive Branch Cemetery. Little Bennie BURKETTE and Woodrow LANCASTER are both victims of pneumonia this week. Mr.Finis SUMMERS,of Neboville,and Miss Mary TAYLOR were married Wednesday at the residence of the bride.She is the daughter of Mr.& Mrs.G.W.TAYLOR. The infant of Mr.& Mrs.Walter CLAYBROOK fell out of its motherÂ’s arms while she was driving Tuesday and received a severe wound on the head. ---WEEKS DOINGS OF MEDINA PEOPLE---The many friends in and near Medina regret to learn of the serious illness of Mrs.Annie GRAVES at the home of her daughter,Mrs.Hurbert PEEKS,near Pleasant hill.Very little hope is entertained for her recovery. ---ITEMS OF INTEREST FROM GADSDEN---Mr.J.W.MEDLIN,an octogenarian,is in quite a feeble state of health. W.B.BOOKER has the deep sympathy of his many friends in the death of his brother,which sad event occurred last Wednesday in St.Louis.Mr.BOOKER was with his brother in his last hours. Mrs.Annie R.CASEY has as her guest,her neice,Miss Bettie BRUMMETTE,of Brownsville. Mrs.Annie R.CASEY and neice,Bettie BRUMMETTE expect to spend this week in the home of Mr.& Mrs.Ollie A.JONES,near Humboldt.
