    3. ._______________________________________________________________________ THE COURIER- CHRONICLE VOLUME XXII No.15 HUMBOLDT,TENNESSEE FRIDAY APRIL 9th,1920 .______________________________________________________________________. ---LOCAL NEWS---Hollis WATSON and Miss Mattie Lou CURSEY were married Saturday evening at 10 o’clock at the M.E.Parsonage.She is the daughter of Mr.& Mrs.J.E.CURSEY. C.E.BOXLEY died at his home here Tuesday evening,after a long illness.He is survived by his wife.Interment in Oakland Cemetery. ---INTERESTING NEWS FROM GIBSON---Dr.R.H.HUNT received a message Monday announcing the death Sunday in Hillville,TX,of his brother,Elbert HUNT,aged 63 years.Mr.HUNT was born and reared here,but moved to TX several years ago,where he married and raised a family of one girl and ten boys.He leaves,besides the children;his wife;three brothers,Dr.R.H., and J.H.HUNT of Gibson and Joe HUNT of TX; one sister,Mrs.Emma ROBINSON. BORN to Esq.& Mrs.R.Z.COLEMAN, a fine girl. ---DEATH---Captain John Quincy CRAIG,very quietly breathed his last in the home of his son-in-law,Mr.O.L.GRANT.He was 80 years of age. His wife died about 12 years ago.Five children survive; Hon.W.W.CRAIG of Ripley, Dr.Robert CRAIG of Humboldt, Mrs.M.J.HOWELL of Dyersburg, Mrs.W.F.SUMMERS of Clarksdale,Miss.,and Mrs.O.L.GRANT of this place.His body was carried to Mount Zion Church,near Friendship and after service,it was laid to rest beside the dust of his wife. ---LIVE NEWS NOTES FROM FRUITLAND---The seven months' old girl of Mr.& Mrs.Walter KILSER died Tuesday of pneumonia. Mrs.Joe WEBB died Thursday of tuberculois and was carried back to her old home in Middle Tennessee for burial. Mrs.J.H.REEVES passed away Friday,4 a.m.,after an illness of several weeks.Burial in Old Gibson Cemetery.Mr.W.W.REEVES and Mrs.Mattie SPENCER of Bemis; Mr.& Mrs.M.V.DAVIDSON and daughters,Venia and Colo.D.,of Bethal Springs, and Miss Elwin PERKINS,of Rutherford,attended the funeral of Mrs.J.H.REEVES Wednesday. ---LOCAL HAPPENINGS IN AND ABOUT TOWN---C.J.DODSON left Thursday for Kansas City,Mo.,to take treatment at the Thornton-Minor Sanitorium. Mrs. D.COUSIN died at her home one mile east of Bells,Thursday of last week,after a long illness.Survived by her husband and one child.Burial in Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs.Henry LEWIS,age 50 years,died last Friday at her home three miles north of Bells,after a short illness.Survived by her husband and three sons.Interment in Bellview Cemetery,Bells,TN. ---IN MEMORY---On April 1st,1920,the Death Angel visited the home of Mr.Joe WEBB and clamied for its victim,his darling wife,Bessie.Her remains were laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery,April 2nd,but were removed April 5th and carried back to her native home,Johnsonville,Tn,to be buried by her mother’s side in Wyley Cemetery. ---IN MEMORY OF BABY CARL---The Death Angel visited the home of Mr.& Mrs.E.W.DEVASHER Saturday night and took their precious little baby,Carl. “Little Carl has gone to heaven Angels gave him wingd to fly O’er the calm and peacful river To fair lands beyond the sky Weep not,parents,for he is waiting; You will meet him after a while Could he talk,his lips would tell you: “Papa,Mama,do not cry.” He has found another father, who is very kind and true; Death is past,he now is living, No more suffering to endure. Brother and sister will be longing Only for a few short years; Tell them of the home in heaven, Where their has gone to stay; Christ will give you back your darling On the Resurrection Day. By a Neighbor. ---ITEMS OF INTEREST FROM GADSDEN---Mr.& Mrs.T.C.HUMPHREYS were here several days at the bedside of their sister,Mrs.J.C.FORD,whose serious illness we mentioned last week.A trained nurse from Memphis has been called in and is now in attendence. Mr.& Mrs.J.B.DRINKARD visited his mother and brother at Laneview last week.His mother is quite feeble at the age of 86 years. Esq.L.L.COX had a public auction sale Saturday,disposing of his surplus effects,perparatory to his removel to the state of Mississippi,where he and his good wife expect to make their future home.They are at present with their daughter,Mrs.George D.BRANDENBURG in Humboldt. ---COXVILLE ITEMS. RFD #10.CROCKETT COUNTY---Mr.Joe TATUM,well known real estate dealer of this county,died in Dyersburg last Sunday of pneumonia after an operation for appendicitis and was buried in Alamo Monday. ---CROCKETT COUNTY NEWS FROM ALAMO---Mr.& Mrs.Ed TATUM accompanied the body of Mr.Joe TATUM from Dyersburg Monday and attended the funeral. ---SOCIETY---A beautiful wedding was solemnized Wednesday morning at 6 o’clock at the home of Mr.& Mrs.Joe S.WHITE,when their daughter,Grace Martin,became the bride of Cooper Conway COLLINS of Trenton. The marriage of Miss Masyl HENDERSON and Thomas HEAD was solemnized in the parsonage of the Christian Church. End of this issue.
