The writing said GIBSON and an address in Ramsgate UK. Does anyone know of a relative who was evacuated to this area in the wartime and may like the label as a family piece of history? I feel it may be precious to someone.

I'm sorry, but the only record that would exist would be a tombstone. Of course, there could be probate records if she was single and left other children. Like Guardianship records. I guess there are some possibilities, but not many. I'm sorry. Kristi

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/1128.1162.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Byron, I'm sorry to hear that your Mother passed away. Also that Bessie has died. I always loved her and Ray. My Mother and she spent hours on the phone talking when I was growing up! I remember riding the greyhound bus to Knoxville when I was probably 12 or 13 years old, with Mrs. Stella. My grandmother lived there and Mrs. Woten was making the trip to see Ray and Bessie. I would spend about a month with my grandmother each summer. Did Bessie have cancer or some other type of complication that she died of? There ended up being five of us girls. My baby sister was born when I was age 20 and I had been married only 3 months. We lost one of my sisters, Sandra, the one closest in age to me, in March 2003 to a complication that sometimes (supposedly rarely) accompanies some types of cancers. She lived 7 months after being diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma. She was a heavy smoker. She took aggressive chemo and radiation and was in remission from the cancer within a few months; but had a paraneoplastic syndrome where your body fights the good cells and she ended up with a trachea and in intensive care for nearly three months. Her mind was wonderful through all of this, but the syndrome took it's toll on her and she got infections in ICU that she couldn't overcome. It's been really tough on my Mom and all of us dealing with her loss. Can you tell me about Ray and Eddie and their families and what profession they are in? When you talk with them, tell them that Edwina (my Mother) is doing well, still living alone; I (Judy) am an administrative executive for the General Manager at the utility dept. ; Sandra passed away; Debbie works in an office job at the local jr. high school; Donna is a kindergarden teacher at the Medina School System and Carla is a stay at home Mom. We all still live here in Humboldt, with the exception of Carla, and she is in Jackson, TN. I pass by your grandmother's house on Mitchell Street coming to work each morning. Yes, the neighborhood has changed and is run down, but that doesn't keep you from the fond memories of times there with family and friends. If you have a picture of your grandparents, Mother and I would love to have a copy; also if you have one of Bessie and Ray or them with the boys, we would like to have copies also. I will be glad to reimburse you for them. You can send them to Judy Mc. POB 850, Humboldt, TN 38343. Thanks for replying to my email. Again, I am sorry about the death of your Mother. Regards

My parents were good friends of Bessie and Ray when I was growing up. Bessie and my Mother worked at the Hoisery Mill here together. We visited with them at their home behind Ms. Stella's when they lived behind Mitchell Street on 19th. I can remember a little screened in place at the back of their property where we would eat homemade ice cream. I also remember them talking about your Mother, Eunice. I can remember playing on the front porch of your grandmother's home with Ray and Eddie. I know that Bessie remarrired after Ray died and wondered if she is still in N.C.?? and how she is doing. My Mother hasn't heard from her in awhile.

    3. Look at www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson and under cemeteries. It might be there, but TN did not require death records until 1914. Some cities kept them earlier, but not rural areas. ----- Original Message ----- From: <kkcem@blomand.net> To: <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2005 7:07 AM Subject: [Tngibson] Re: Will do LOOKUPS in Gibson Co., TN > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/2754.4.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Since they would have been infants, the only record that I can imagine existing of their death at that time would be a tombstone. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/951.952.1.2.1 Message Board Post: The Thomas Williams of my query died in 1796 in Beaufort Co NC. He didn't come to TN, but the Reuben and Sally Biggs he mentioned in his will came to Stewart Co TN in 1818. At least I assume Sally (maiden name supposed to have been Williams) made the trip with Reuben; I believe she died 1820-1830. I'm not sure if any of her brothers came to Tennessee, but I suspect they may have come to Stewart Co or Gibson Co TN also. Besides Sally (Williams?) Biggs, the grandchildren Thomas Williams named in his will were James Williams, Luke Williams, Cansaday Williams, Bertimos Williams, Lennice or Lettice Williams, Winifred Williams and Elizabeth Williams. How old these people were I can't say. Some may have been Sally's siblings, some may have been cousins. Reuben was born in 1775. Judging from census records I would guess Sally was born shortly before then.

Found your post while searching my Williams connection. Thomas A. Williams (married to Emma Fisher), is the father of Charles T. Williams (married to Lora Presley). Their daughter Rebecca Joyce Williams is my mother. They are all from Gibson CO. The census records indicate that Thomas' father was from NC. Other than that I have no information. This could be the "shot in the dark" for me if the Thomas you mention is his father, perchance? Do you have any records that might confirm this? I live in NC and would love to be able to find a NC connection. I also have access to NC records. I am looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help.
