Surnames: McCalip, McCaleb, McCalib, Williams, Hanby Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/739.906.4 Message Board Post: I'm looking for any information on Hansel McCaleb of Tenn. b. abt 1807, d. abt 1870. He had a son James, who had a son William, who had a son John Wesley McCaleb, who had a son Charles Wade McCalip....John apparently was told that McCaleb was the wrong spelling of the name and changed it to McCalip. The family moved from Tenn to Ark to Ok. We've done DNA studies, but no other McCalebs have, so there is no one to match to yet. Hopefully, more McCalebs will step forward and be tested! Any help is appreciated!! Thanks! Connie

Pisgah Church and Cemetary in the 1870's. I assume this was on their land. There is a plaque on the front of the Mr. Pisgah Church listing this. > I can not put my hands on my files about this right now but I have a copy of the deed from RC & Martha giving the land to the church. > I also have a copy of the deed to one acre (I think) sold to the school board for the Mt. Pisgah School about the same time as the church. I think it must have been adjacent to the church but have not found a record of the place. > > I also have a copy of the deed where RC & Martha Crocker sold the railroad right-of-way to the Mississippi etc railroad about the same time, listing 100 feet right of way and totaled 3 or 4 acres, so must have gone across his farm there. It is only maybe a half mile from Mt. Pisgah church to the railroad there. > > I had found these in the Gibson County Court House in Trenton several years ago. > > My Dad said he was born in the Bradford-Idlewild area, have not been able to find the spot. They were at Fowlkes in Dyer County in the 1910 census, and that is where I was born. > > My anscestors: George Ethelbert Crocker, Thomas Fred Crocker, Thomas Monroe Crocker and Rufus Coleman Crocker, and Mark Crocker. > > Max Crocker > Lexington KY > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <danielreynolds78@yahoo.com> > To: <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2005 12:17 PM > Subject: [Norton AntiSpam] [Tngibson] Re: Idlewild pictures and map > > > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > > > Classification: Query > > > > Message Board URL: > > > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/2786.1.1.1 > > > > Message Board Post: > > > > hello shar i have done some research on idlewild it was established in 1873 as a rail road station i just talk to my dad he was born just down the road from idlewild and he said that it was never a real town there was only a store , post office and rail road station also you ask some time ago about what school that the children of idlewild attened i found a letter by a carlos l thetford on the history of skullbonia and in the letter he said that there were four one room school houses in the 22nd district of gibson county for the towns of bradford, idlewild and skullbone they were mulberry grove , mt pisgah , caney grove and smith academy so i would think that the school the children of idlewild attened would be mt pisgah since mt pisgah church and cemetery are in idlewild i hope this information helps you out i was also just down in tennessee and went by your grandmothers house i don't if anyone has told you but it has been sold > > > > > > daniel reynolds > > > > > > ==== TNGIBSON Mailing List ==== > > Gibson Co TN Genealogy Pages http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson/ > > > > > > > > > > ==== TNGIBSON Mailing List ==== > Gibson Co TN Genealogy Pages http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson/ > > > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.1.362 / Virus Database: 267.12.6/151 - Release Date: 10/28/2005 > >
