I must check the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Index to see what there is about GGrandpa Boon. May I suggest that you try googling Kinchen Boon and see if you can locate the Boon website which helped me put my Boons together. They go back to Franklin Co., NC before Gibson, TN and from NC to Isle of Wight, VA. There are many generations and branches so maybe John T. will turn up there. Let me know if I can help. I'd like to thank you for posting this. I had been trying to find, for about 3 years, now, more information about the soldier listed on the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System as J. T. Boon/Alternate name, T. J. Boon. My gg grandfather was John T Boon/Boone, b. c1820, N. C., a shoe and bootmaker. He appeared in Weakley Co., TN (neighbor to Gibson Co.) records by 1842, and I've never been able to connect him with any of the Boon/Boone families in surrounding counties. I can't find his parents or siblings anywhere. He also disappeared from census after the 1860 Weakley Co. TN Census, and his last child was born in 1862. This made me suspect that it was possible he'd been conscripted into service in the Civil War at a fairly late age for conscription?(early 40's)possibly because of his occupation (shoe and bootmaker) and perhaps had been ki! lled in action. Your post confirmed for me that the soldier, J. T./T.J. Boon was your g grandfather and not my John T. Boon/Boone. I'm back at square one, but really appreciate the information. Thanks so much. Brenda

The Project is set up for Moses Garrison b.1737 d.AFT1820. Although Moses never lived in Gibson Co., his son Samuel b.1760 d.1846 and many of his children migrated to Gibson and Obion Counties as early as the 1830's. Many of his descendants prosper there today. Known children of Samuel are Obadiah 1794, John 1799 (first Postmaster of Mason Hall when it had one), James 1800, Moses Franklin 1802, Mary 1809, Susanna 1811, Jefferson 1812 and Joel 1822. There are many descending children in and around Mason Hall, Kenton, etc... . There are numerous Maternal Lines associated with the Garrisons in Gibson and surrounding Counties. We will name a few and please forgive us if we don't list all, there are so many: Hollomon, Finch, Tilghman, Green, Bethell, McCutcheon, Cowsert, Scates, Carr, Casey, Davie, Marsh, White, Nichols, Ruteledge, Turner, Crain/Crane, Dodson, Worrell, Lanzer, Wray, Smith, Jones and Roney. If you know of any Garrisons who are part of this family or have reason to believe they may be please let them know of this DNA Project and post a response. We also have a Garrison and Allied Families Research Group in addition to the DNA Project where we are researching this Line. If any of the Maternal Lines listed above would contact us, we would be most appreciative to hear from them. We have learned that in many instances, the Maternal Line may have more information in the study of an individual than the Paternal Line. Thanks So Much For Your Help, Les and Harold Dean Garrison

Glad to see you posting here. Thought I'd jump in and mention that my great Aunt Virgie Hutchison on 4 Jan 1900 married a Kennedy, and I've seen it spelled almost as many ways as Hutchison! Most references are to a Cleo Kennedy, but marriage certificate listed him as Cleo Kenada. More details on them at my website at http://genealogy.jimharrisononline.com/family/d0003/g0000092.html#I1045 . They later moved to the St. Louis area I believe. Jim

Elizabeth Rebecca Childers/Childress about 1859. He is in the 1850 census in MO living with his parents (Madison Co. District 54, page 214, line 271). If I have the right guy he's in the 1860 census in Butte Co. CA with his wife Rebecca and a one-year old daughter. So, how and when did he get from MO to CA? The De-Guire family took several wagon trains west during the 1850s, but I haven't been able to get any more details. Any ideas?
