    3. I was just wondering if anyone out there know the Smiths in Rutherford. My grandfather doesn't live there anymore, but he used to own the Smiths Cabinet Shop on Route7 I think that's the route #. His name was Lonnie Smith. Anyways. His nephews and nieces live beside his place. Tommy owns the Smith Garage across the street. My cousin lives up on the hill in Tom Smiths place. I was wondering if that area was hit by the tornados. kayrixie@comcast.net Thanks, Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Bone" <JoBne@msn.com> To: <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 03, 2006 9:41 PM Subject: Re: [Tngibson] Bad weather > From Rutherford - We are o.k. and the telephone and > electric service has been restored, but we have lost > some good friends and the property damage is > tremendous. 2. Article in the Knoxville News-Sentinel this morning: "A young couple and their two sons, age 5 and 3, were killed, their bodies found 800 yards from their house." "It basically took my life away. I don't really care if I see daylight tomorrow," said Larry Taylor, the boys' grandfather and the only funeral director in rural Bradford. He was planning to bury the family in two seperate caskets, with each child alongside one of his parents. "I'd give everything I had for that not to have happened," he said through the tears. "Those little boys were my life." ( This little family, Tanya and Brad Taylor and their two little boys, Tyce age 5 and Kyle age 3, lived near my brother. There is a picture on the front page of the News-Sentinel of the debris of their home.) A Memphis meteorologist said a tornado that hit Dyer County was an F-3 which had winds 158-206 mph. Officials estimated 1,200 buildings were damaged in Gibson County, where eight people were killed and 17 others hospitalized in critical condition, according to TEMA. Most of what I have written is from the newspaper article. Mary June

    2. Birth and death records started in 1908, stopped in 1913, and started again in 1914. Indices are available for the death records in some libraries. The early death records have multiple years grouped together, but after that, only one year indexed at a time. I've seen indices up to about 1945. Sue

    2. well I took a direct hit. The roof is completly gone, just four walls remain, and the furniture. Lost my shop and outbuildings, jeep, tractor & 4-wheeler. Almost every tree in the yard is down. But I am alive. Praise the Lord. The trailer infront of me is completly gone. > > From: Vicki <wire@shaffer.com> > Date: 2006/04/03 Mon PM 07:30:43 EDT > To: TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [Tngibson] Bad weather > > All you folks that live in Gibson County, please let us hear from > you. 2. I talked with my family in West Tennessee this morning as soon as I found out about their bad weather. My nephew and his wife lost their barn, siding on their house and he said they had holes in the roof. All the trees are down and one fell on both of their vehicles. He said the tornado hit them "head on". They laid down on the floor and just held on to each other and prayed. He is pastor of a church in Dyer but their place is in Gibson Co. They were not hurt. My brother lives at Skullbone and they called me to let me know they were alright. Both familes have no power and of course, if you have a well and you don't have power, you have no water. A family of 4 who lived close to my brother were all killed. They said Bradford looked like a war zone and it looked like Jackson did when the tornadoes hit there several years ago. According to the news tonight, 8 lost their lives in Gibson and I think 13 in Dyer County. I am thankful my family is safe. Mary June Fuchs Foulk Knoxville
