We just found his 1917 death certificate (Jefferson Co, TX) and realized we had his parents wrong. His father shows to be D. K. Hart from TN, mother unknown. James Madison Hart is my gg grandfather. We know his children claimed to be Indian and Irish and wondered if he might be connected to your Bertie (Hart) White. James Madison Hart was married to Emily Elizabeth Ethridge. Married in TN, but also lived in Burnet Co TX, Oklahoma, and died in Jefferson Co TX after being shot by his son-in-law. His son Fred Lee Hart was my ggf. I realize this is an old post but am hoping we can make a connection.

Surnames: Carroll, Draper, Owens, Grier, McCaslin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/2834 Message Board Post: Hello all: Just returned from a weekend of touring Gibson Co. after the tornado of April 2. For anyone who has not heard, the damage was devastating! My mom lost her house in Dyer out on N. Main. The Mt. Olive C.P. church has been condemned and the cemetery is really in a big mess, especially the area where all my McCaslin and Grier relatives are buried. The big old Magnolia tree (historical) was blown over during the storm. They got that cleaned up this weekend but the stones are in a big mess. There are quite a lot of the others that were turned over, too. My Carroll and Owens stones were fine. What a path this storm took, wreaking havoc all over S.W. Missouri, Dyer Co. and Gibson Co. I have never seen anything like it. I hope none of you lost your family home. It is sort of like the beginning of a nightmare, even tho everyone was okay. We were fortunate in that respect. My sister had bumps and bruises but nothing life-threatening. Her grandchildren were traumatized by i! t all. There were quite a few deaths in the area. Going back was so sad. I imagine we will be hearing stories out of this for years to come. I also wanted to point out that the Yorkville Cemetery transcription is not complete. I have Carroll's and Drapers out there and there are lots more graves than are on the list. Anyone know anything about that? Elaine "Carroll" Embree

I understand that it was common back then to use a mothers maiden name as a first or middle name, so there could be a connection to families named Champion somewhere in that line. All I have on their mother was her first name Temperence. Thanks for the reply.
