    3. Tilghman Files from Jane Norton Powell NAOMI TILGHMAN NORTON Kenton - Services for Naomi Tilghman Norton, 88, will be 4 p.m. today at Morella Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in North Union Cemetery. Mrs. Norton, a homemaker, died Saturday morning at Union City Manor Nursing Center. She was married to the late Fred Norton. They had a son, Robert NOrton of Kenton. For more information, call Karnes and Son Funeral home at 665-6167. Rebel C.Forrester, GLORY AND TEARS, p.163-164, Federal Companies, 14th TN Cavalry, Co.B, Pri. Pickney Tilghman (also, Robert C. and Joshua C. Tilghman). Louisa Norton Tilghman, from "Gibson Co. TN, - Past & Present, page 158, "One incident is worthy of note. A lady living west of Kenton had knitted a pair of woolen socks for her husband who was actively engaged in the war. Later after learning that he had been killed in battle near Columbus, Ky., she started out where the dead in battle had been buried in shallow trenches and without any surface marking of identifications. She passed by these noticing a a human foot with the woolen sock she recognized as the one she had sent her husband. She disenterred his body, placed it in the wagon and again made the long journey bringing his remains to North Union Cemetery for reburial, which the monument erected to his memory shows to be Pickney Tilghman. -----Original Message----- From: Mary M. 3. Vickie: More about the Photo. My Aunt & Uncle lived on several farms in that area from about 1921 to 1932-33 period. They moved to Humboldt about this time. The farms were in the Rutherford, Obion, Newbern area. I guess they were share-croppers or day workers, because I remember my Aunt telling about moving every year are so. The photo was probably made in the 1920s or before. They might have been the owners of a farm they lived on. I have determined they are not any of my family, but friends of my Aunt.
