    1. [TNGIBSON-L] Cemetery Listing for Ray and Cleora Oliver
    2. Alice King
    3. Warren, The following listings are in Emily Walker's Cemetery books for North Gibson County under the listings for Grier's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Vol. 1, Page 168 Oliver, Cle Ora September 17, 1920 - October 11, 1963 Oliver, Ray October 10, 1926 - --------- No death date listed The cemetery was transcribed on October 11, 1980. Since no death date for Ray is listed, he may have died after 1980, or they may have just neglected to put the death date on the stone. The committee responsible for the Grier's Chapel church cemetery may have a listing of the people buried in that particular cemetery and they might have the death date for Ray in their records. I do not personally know who they are, but perhaps someone else on the list knows and can give you that information. The couple above sounds like the ones you are looking for. As I recall Grier's Chapel is in the country not too far from Dyer--and I did not find them in Oakwood Cemetery which is the one located in Dyer itself. Hope this is helpful. Alice King

Thanks for your help on this matter. Madelon Note, I just returned from the Danville Croosing meeting. Was great but I really would like to see Gibson and Obion and ?? do it too. 3. Catherine: You are right about the small town at the Old Shiloh Burying Grounds. This is where the Presbyterian Church, now at Fruitland, was located from 1836 to 1886. It was moved to a new building near a school in 1886, and was there untill 1911 when they moved the building to it's present site, which is close to the railroad and highway 45. The church was started in 1825 at the McLeary Camp Ground, a few miles west of Old Shiloh. There is a cemetery or burying ground at the McLeary location also. I have not been to it and don't know where it is located. If the graves are marked, this would be some of the first settlers to this area. I plan on finding more about it on my next trip to Humboldt.
