    3. Want to share with you all, one of my joys in this endeavor and also an experience of the Spooky. I have just found the estate sale of our John Dickson in 1836 Gibson. Had entered it on my program. Ran across a copy of a page I had copied of a person who is maybe connected to our line and not proved. There was a picture of Alvin King, who I had just typed in as buying an ax for 50 cents at the sale. Sure made me feel like I had been there. 3. Hi Alice & Richard & Vicki, My mother has a book "Alvin King, His Ancestors & Descendants, 1630-1996," by Allene Hill and Juanita Lowrence (who were sisters and also cousins of my Mom's). In this book it shows your elder Jacob Flowers (1763-1853) married to Lavinia ____. They had 13 children. Jacob's parents are listed as Simon Flowers and an unknown first wife. A number of siblings are also listed. Simon Flowers' parents are listed as John and Mary Flowers. Mom says it is Tollie Gordon Road. She is Dorothy Jean King-Powell and she is originally from Dyer, TN. Her computer is sick right now, so I'm relaying messages for her. Alice, I notice you have the same server (HCOL) as I do so you must be near. My mother wants to know if you were akin to the Crouse family. Are we cousins? 3. Vicki: I remember an occupation of 'daguerrotypist' for a person enumerated in the 1850 census for Gibson County. I'm pretty sure that the person lived in the town of Trenton at that time. It impressed me that Gibson county had a photographer in 1850, probably less than 10 years after that art/science was introduced to the U.S. Dennis West in Knoxville, TN. =============== Vicki wrote: > My cousin found a daguerreotype of a gentleman that I think may possibly be > my B.F. 3. Vicki, I have two photos that are marked with the photographer not the people in the pic unfortunately. One photo says on the back in a very professional scrool with flowers around it, "Jno. P. Rapier, ARTIST in PHOTOGRAPHY Newbern, Tenn. The other simply says T. B. LATHAM, Rutherford, Tennessee below the photograph. These pictures drive me crazy. I know they are all Dicksons and sure hope to figure it out one day. Anyway, I do know of at least two studios. I also have some very early 1830s tintypes with not identification whatever. Hope this helps.
