Gibson Co Friends I have received a lot of help from all of you regarding the Jones and Boykin families. Some have sent me a photo and the Reminiscence of LeGrand Jones which was packed with data. Lizzie Jones was the daughter of LeGrand and Cassandra Woods. Now I have birth, wedding and death dates. I sent for Lizzie's death certificate. I am trying to locate the burial places for these people. I understood that Lizzie was buried in Trenton. Someone checked Oakland Cemetery but could not find a stone for her or for her son Paul Boykin. I called the Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton. Mr. Shelton was very kind. Looked at the old records located in the warehouse and called the city clerk to see if there was a plot on record. All to no end. I had several people tell me they were related to the Jones'. But I have not heard from them again. Can someone please tell me where Lizzie and Paul are buried? Thanks so much for you time. Regards. Phil Di Matteo
This is for Brenda Lewis. Sorry to send this to the list but my email to Brenda keeps returning. Would like to hear from you again. How are you descended from William Andrew McCartney? Patti Simmons

Hey Ya'll! I have updated the Medina webpage with photos, maps, etc. Please have a look and if you can identify any of the people in the photos, please let me know, so I can list their names! Also, I had to guess the dates on most of the photos. If you can date these more precisely, please let me know. Thanks! Sherry Yates

So please NO ONE take my "Bucksnort" seriously but do enjoy the Byegone Towns page! I live in Lexington, TN, and I can personnally tell you that yes, Bucksnort does still exist. We pass the sign every time we travel to Nashville. Bucksnort is in Hickman County on or near the Duck River. It's west of Nashville on I-40 just east of the Hickman Co. line. The gas station and store are still there, but I think the Steak and Shake is out of business. Of course, I chuckle every time I see the sign and I'm curious about the origin of the name. I hope you can find it on your map. It's on mine. :) Karyl Fisher -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Wilson <wilsonna@sonic.net> To: TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 11, 1999 8:30 PM Subject: Re: [TNGIBSON] Byegone Towns > >-----Original Message----- >From: Vicki . . . > >" . . .he was born in Buck >>Snort, TN and you cannot locate it on a map, possibly because it no longer >>exists." > >Oh, say it isn't so!! > >My husband and I spent a night in Bucksnort only a few years ago! Mary Hudson has made pages on bygone towns...........You can submit a query and she'll post it for you. EXAMPLE: Your grgranddad's death certificate says he was born in Buck Snort, TN and you cannot locate it on a map, possibly because it no longer exists. Post a query on Mary's page and let others help you find it! Or look through the list and maybe you can solve a mystery for someone else. It's a great site! This is what I found on your Wilsons. The family was documented in Goodspeeds, 1887. The "signed Declaration of Independence" may not be true. I've seen statements that this James Wilson did not have any male children who produced male children. The more recent infromation is from the census and marriage records. It's possible that not all of the marriages I attributed to this William Wilson were actually his. This is not the same Wilson family as ours. Hello - Did Tennessee take its own census', agricultural, or otherwise, such as Illinois, Missouri and Iowa did during 1835, 1845, 1855, and 1865? If so, where can one gain access? Thanks for any related information. Tom Davis
I received some confirmed information that John Page and his young sons signed the petition for the creation of Gibson County. I was surprised that children were allowed to sign on that document. Now I am wondering about one of the witnesses on the 1823 deed I have. One of the witnesses was William Page, who could have been his young son but I was under the impression that children could not be witnesses. I assumed (which is dangerous in this research) that this might be his brother William instead. The initials LBC appear after William's signature. Does anyone know what those stand for? Thanks for any help you can offer. Cathy
Needing info on the following family. Claude Robert Dickey, born Dyer Co., 8/16/1871. Died 9/14/1943 in Dyer Co. He was married to Ollie Hall, the dau. of James Hall and Susan Minton. They had the following children: George, born 7/18/1896 Illamay, born 11/21/1898 Clyde, born 2/4/1905 I really am in need of finding who Claude Robert's father was. I believe his parents were Andrew Dickey and Ann Cawthorn, but I can't document it. I can only find Claude Robert in the 1880 Dyer Co. census in the house of his uncle, Robert Wesley Dickey, who was the son of Matthew Dickey, born 1812 in Madison Co. Ala.
