    3. William Carroll Holt (1817-1901) was born on January 6, 1817. He enlisted in Company E of the 1st West Tennessee (later 7th Tennessee Cavalry) Infantry on July 18, 1862 and with it's transferral to the 6th Tennessee Cavalry in June of 1863 became Captain of Company M. During the engagement at Bolivar, he was captured and taken prisoner to Andersonville, Georgia for a short time. He was then moved to prison camps at Macon and Savannah, Georgia and Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. At Macon he "contracted chronic diarrhea, brought on by exposure" and remained at a hospital at Savannah for two to three months. At Columbia, Holt escaped on foot and made his way back to his command in Tennessee, traveling only at night, and rejoined them around March 11, 1865. The ordeal rendered him ineffective the remainder of the war and he resigned effective June 24, 1865. Orginally from Bloomfield, Missouri, he returned there, hoping to recuperate, but eventually returned to Bradford, T! ennessee in 1879. He died on January 23, 1901 and was buried at Sunset Cemetery near Dresden. 2. Susan H Wilson
    3. There are two books published with information in that time frame. Hays, Tony, Gibson County Death Records Hays, Tony, Gibson-Crocker A Joint Heritage, (1986, Kitchen Table Press, Chattanooga, TN). Additionally, each will book should have an index for that willbook at the front of the book. 1. [TNGIBSON] Surnames MIDKIFF & ABBOTT
    2. Good Afternoon List, We are new to GIBSON-L and need to give you our Gibson County Surnames. My GG-grandparents moved from Virginia to Overton Co.,TN, to Weakley Co., TN, and I think, became residents of Gibson Co. when the county lines changed. John J. MIDKIFF and Elizabeth ABBOTT and their family were listed in the Weakley Co. census 1850. Have found neither John nor Elizabeth since that time. Please, anyone, We need the time and place of their death and burial. We think it must have been in Gibson County. Thanks for your help, James & June Midkiff Mobile, AL
