    1. [TNGIBSON] stockton surname
    2. Lynn Nebeker
    3. Hello, I have been on the mailing list for awhile but this is the first time to post anything. I am researching the Stockton surname. The Stocktons have been in Gibson County since at least the late 1800's. Robert G. Stockton died 13 Oct 1895 and is buried at Poplar Grove Cem. He was married to Amanda Elizabeth Hardin. I am trying to verify who his parents are and where he was before he showed up in Dyer. He was in Itawamba Co., Miss. for the 1850 and 1860 censuses but then dissappears until a few years before he died. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lynn Nebeker

Someone rammed their vehicle through the gate, bent it real bad, tore down the sign and threw several beer bottles out. Was reported to Sheriff & Humboldt PD by Hazlewood and Mathews who asked for additional patrols on Fri, Sat & Sun PMs as that seems to be the times this is occurring. Told them we would prosecute if they caught anyone there. Probably some punk young folks out for a good time! There was a very nice article in this week's Chronicle as well as a $250 reward that the Association has posted for info leading to arrest & conviction of the person(s) who did it. Will try to remember to bring the paper on Sat for all to see at the cleanup. Vicki ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeanell Kutterer To: TnGibson@worldnet.att.net Sent: Wednesday, September 15, 1999 3:58 PM Subject: Gibson County Wedsite I have spent most of the afternoon in this website. I am from Crockett County but have lived in Florida nearly 40 years. Much of my research is in Gibson County. You have been particularly helpful today with the Tennessee Confederate Units list. I enjoyed the trip thoughout the county using the train. I have always wanted to visit Skullbone. It was often mentioned as we made the trip from Bells to Martin when I was in college. Your website is excellent and I would like to contribute sometime in the future by adding the Roberts Cemetery where many of my relatives are buried. Jeanell Randle Kutterer

    3. Jere Cox sent me copies of the 1830 Sheriff's List which lists all free white males inhabiting the county then. I have finished transcribing A & B surnames and will keep working on it. In transcribing it, I was using the 1830 census transcription to help decipher some of the names and noticed that there are QUITE A FEW more names on this list than the 1830 census. So keep checking back. It has a link from the main page now but you all can find it at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson/Sheriff's%20List/sheriff-1830-A.htm Vicki Gibson Co. 3. Hi folks, If you are descended from RICHARD BRADFORD who settled in Charles City Co., VA circa 1653 and married FRANCES TAYLOR you will want to visit this site: http://members.home.net/kylawyer/ It has the entire text of David Bradford' s book (now out of print)published 1993 detailing (some of) the descendants of Richard Bradford. The PRUITT family that settled in Gibson County, TN circa 1825 claims descendancy from Richard Bradford. Walker K. McCulloch

My great grandfather Nance's name was Tandy Trice Nance. I know trice means three but I also wonder if it's an old family name (I'd like to trace it). Coincidentally my postman's name is Scott Trice. Do you know anything about the name, Trice? Terry Nance in VA
