    1. [TNGIBSON] Rose Hill Cemetery
    2. I checked the web site for Rose Hill Cemetery, Humbolt, TN and did not see a listing for Maria BOYKIN. A cousin in Alamo told me she is buried there. Is there a way to verify what my cousin has said? Who is in charge of this cemetery that I may write to? I appreciate any help. Phil Di Matteo

    1. [TNGIBSON] Posting Messages
    2. Vicki
    3. Everyone, please be careful when you are posting a message to one of the GenConnect boards. LOOK before you get ready to post anything....... If you are about to post a will make SURE you are on the WILLS board......the same with QUERIES, etc. I have taken on the Gibson Tennessee Biographies Project. I was just visiting our Bios GenConnect board and there are only 3 biographies of Gibson County pioneers posted. http://www.hickmanonline.com/tnbio/ Where is everybody?????? LOL! Please.......post a bio........they are extremely helpful in our family research! (especially when they include the migration pattern your ancestors took) Besides, I love to read them and I'm sure everyone else will, too! And if you haven't written one yet, get busy! (I'll start working on mine immediately! LOL!) This Tennessee Biographies is fairly new so let's get ALL ours posted and show off our research talents in Gibson county! Thank you, Vicki Shaffer http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/GibsonBios

    1. [TNGIBSON] Ordering BMD documents
    2. Susan Jones
    3. Hi, This message will be going to several lists so I am sorry if you get more than one. I have my husband's family traced back to when they came to the states so now I am interested in getting documents to prove my findings. How difficult is is working with the state, counties and the town clerks in getting BMD records. I am working within the time frame of about 1822 to about 1880. I have done this sort of work before with my family and one state has been a nightmare. I always give the example that with my particular state, it is far easier to pull teeth from a hungry shark than it is to get any form of document from these people. Thank you for your time and response. Sue macduff@citrus.infi.net

    1. [TNGIBSON] NC Floods
    2. Kay Sakaris
    3. Hi, Several of the families that settled in Gibson County came there from Greene and Lenoir Counties in North Carolina. My Waters family was one of these. Unfortunately, these two counties are among the worst flooded. Plus, both counties are burned counties and there are few, if any, early records. So far, the courthouses are safe. But the residents are not. Below are two addresses for the Red Cross in Lenoir and Greene Counties, North Carolina. They are two of the most flooded in the area. If you want to send a donation, these are the addresses to use. These folks have lost everything and need all the help we can give them. 1. [TNGIBSON] Hurricane Floyd
    2. Just thot y'all'd be interested in the stories we don't see in the news. Yeah...the storm was bad, but this flood is the worst anyone has ever known about. No kidding - the worst in our history. When I cut on the TV, the local CBS affiliate was telling about a 6-member family who drowned while trying to evacuate their home. I don't know if they tried to leave in a vehicle or what - the announcer didn't go into detail; another man in a neighboring community about 10 miles from here would not evacuate - he wanted to stay in his place, and when they found him today, he was dead in his bedroom. But the really bad stuff is all of the local hog, turkey, and chicken farms where all of the animals have drowned and floated away, and all of the lagoons have overflowed their banks, releasing all of the urine/fecal matter into the swamps, creeks, streams, and then into the rivers. Millions of gallons of waste - and the region's cities and towns sewage systems are as bad...we are supposed to chlorinate our water and/or boil it for about 5 minutes before drinking it. Yeah...we're in a sort-of bad situation, and now The Pres is supposed to come down here on Monday. Whoop-de-doo. I'm still sort of up in the air about how I am going to get to New Bern, but I have friends down there who are going to try and find a route for me to follow to get there, and friends up here, too, so hopefully things will work out. Keep your fingers crossed for us down here. Regards, Mary
