Horace & Lettie had twin boys, named (don't laugh) Roy Redden & Toy Redden. Any help is going to make my day. Wado, patti

    1. [TNGIBSON] Brick Walls
    2. This is a story of a brick wall I am up against. I am searching for the final resting place for several BOYKIN family members. Most important are William Osborne BOYKIN and his mother Mariah MOORE Boykin. I know that Lizzie Jones of Trenton, daughter-in-law to William Osborne Boykin lived in Chattanooga with her daughter Cassandra Burton. I have their obits from the Chattanooga Times. Cassandra had one child named Sandra who married Calvin KNAPP. Based on the obit they lived in Tacoma, WA. I wrote to all the KNAPPs in Tacoma with family first names. No results. The reason I am obsessed with this family is because I have a letter written in 1934 by the Solicitor General of GA, John A. BOYKIN, to the Honorable R. L. BOYKIN in Washington, D. C., in which he mentions getting much useful genealogy data from Elizabeth Jones Boykin in Chattanooga. I am hoping that this data was passed down from Lizzie to Cassandra to Sandra to her children. Cassandra "Cassie" Boykin had a sister Georgia Clymetra Boykin who married James Marion Riddle. They had had at least 3 children. They moved to Chicago. There are too many Riddles in Chicago to just start writing. They too may have the data. If anyone knows these names or knows how to contact their descendants I would love to hear from you. Paul, Cassandra and Clymetra went to Peabody High School in Trenton in 1899-1902. Paul and his mother Lizzie are buried in the Jones family plot in Oakland Cemetery. Although I have much information I want to know where the two people mentioned above are buried. Any help will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo

    1. Nellie Stutts (Stults)
    2. My grandfather, R. Howard Tucker, had a half sister named Nellie Blake (born 7/2/1881). According to the information provided by my mother's cousin, Nellie married Charles STUTTS, date unknown. According to the vital statistics index and her death certificate, there was a Nellie STULTS who died in Neboville, Gibson Co. on May 10, 1923 and was buried in Rehobeth Cemetery in Dyer Co. To complicate matters further, there is a C.R. STUTTS who died Dec. 13, 1921, and was buried in the Fairview cemetery. I am trying to decide if these are the right people, what the real last name is and I would love to know why they are buried in different cemeteries. There is a family legend which might explain it, but these dates are all wrong. I would appreciate any assistance from the list. He is wanting to have it put together as a book for the libraries. Barry, I have several tapes which were recorded back in the 1970s of my aunts, uncles and a grandfather and misc friends. I have a sound card in my PC as well as a CD-Recorder. With the Adaptec software which came with my CD-R, along with the necessary cable, I hooked up a cassette deck to my sound card and digitized the tapes to create Wave files. Since I wanted to place the tapes onto CDs, I had to digitize using the stereo 44.1Khz sampling rate (which was a major overkill) but the result is a CD that will play on any musical CD player. Going this route, I was limited to about 65-70 minutes per CD. The process is quite simple - record one side of the tape and create one large Wave file (you need a about 1-GB of free HD to do this) and then edit the Wave file by splitting it up into the appropriate number of Wave files (i.e. one Wave file per interview). The Adaptec software will take the 44.1Khz stereo Wave files and convert them to "music" tracks on the CD-R. If you wanted to make a CD which could only be played on a computer, that opens several other options. Two options I'm aware of is by recording Wave files in "mono" at a rate of about "22Khz." This would allow you to place up to 4X times more audio onto a CD, but it would have to stay as Wave files - thus played only on a computer. Another option is to create MP3 files from the 44.1Khz stereo Wave files. MP3 is a compression technique used in "MPEG" DVD type movies to compress audio. Using MP3, you can usually place about 10 hours of CD-quality audio onto a single CD - however, again, you can only play the audio back by using the computer. Hope this helps. Take care, Eddy G. Clark

    3. Hi Folks, I need some help and/or advice. A man asked me for help yesterday on what I think would be a very worthwhile project, but I have not the faintest idea of where to start. He has 50+ hours of interviews on cassette tapes of Gibson County WWI, WWII and Korean War vets telling their tales of home life and experiences in the service. He is wanting to have it put together as a book for the libraries. As I said I have no idea who to contact to do this or who could give advice on how to go about it. I know someone out there does.
