----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Wheat To: TnGibson@worldnet.att.net Sent: Saturday, October 23, 1999 6:22 AM Subject: Gibson Co.-related article, 1892 Hello, Vicki.... I found the article below in the Dallas Herald yesterday, and thought it might be of help to someone in Gibson County. Regards, Jim Wheat Garland, Texas Stole His Own Child. MILAN, Tenn., Nov. 30.-Some months since, R. S. Macon and wife, of this county, agreed to separate and divide the property. In the mutual agreement, signed and acknowledged, the wife was given the custody of their only child, a boy of 3 years. Macon disposed of his possessions with the intention of leaving for California. He went to visit his wife, ostensibly to bid her farewell. When he started to leave, he snatched the child in his arms and fled down the road, followed by the frantic mother, who was unable to overtake him. On her applying for assistance, an officer was sent in pursuit of the abductor, but the latter made good his escape. - November 30, 1892, Dallas [Tex.] Daily Times Herald, p. 5.
I think that it is likely that the TN Archives will have the 1843 Gibson County Marriage License you are looking for on microfilm. I found licenses for my gg grandfather who was married both in 1840 and 1846 in Gibson County at the Archives. Jim Prange
Would the person who transcribed Bell's Chapel Cemetery please write me........somehow it got uploaded without giving credit to the transcriber and I can't remember who sent it. It's that old age disease! Vicki

Does anyone know the pastor or anybody that attends. I am wanting to get a hold of the minutes of the church so I wrote about six weeks ago and so far no response. I have tried calling the number at the church at different times throughout the weeks but so far no answer. When I was there in July, everything looked great so I assume that they still hold church there. I would like to see if I can get copies of the minutes as my great-great grandfather was a charter member to the church in 1851. Harvey
I just split up the marriage page. It took too long to load and there were some of you that weren't having any luck loading the whole thing. It's now arranged as A-H and I-Z. It's still slow but hope this will help some of you. If anyone still has trouble with it, please do not hesitate to let me know.....I can split it up more........I just don't want anyone to miss any of this valuable data! http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson/Marriages/marriages.htm Vicki

Forgot to mention that Cynthia Yates' mother's name is Lucy W.
Boss Yates, b. Aug 1862 and wife Cynthia b. Jan 1867. Was Cynthia a JOHNS or JOHNSON? They would have been married about 1886, but I can't find a marriage record for them in Gibson County. Karla
Hello Patti, I have a line of REDDEN/REDDIN/REDDING people on my family tree, as they married into my BINGHAM line. I have a few John Wiley REDDEN's listed, yet none seem to match. Still, I suspect a connection. For example, I have: John Wiley REDDEN b. 1860, m. Martha Ann "Mattie" MORGAN I'll keep looking and will keep your mail in my file. Regards, Shelley
O'siyo, need help with this one. Mattie Lee REDDEN, B: 16 May 1911, lived most of her adult live in Humboldt. She married a man with the last name of GILL, first name unknown at this time. They had at least one child by the name of Jack GILL, B:6 Jan 1928 in Humboldt. Does this ring a bell with those in and around Humboldt, Tennessee. Anything at this stage of the game will help. Wado.....patti
