----- Original Message ----- From: Margaret Burrows To: Thomas W Davis Sent: Monday, November 29, 1999 5:15 PM Subject: Gibson Co Wms! Tom, I bet they were cousins. I have always looked at that Wm Wms family--just couldn't stick in my Christopher anywhere. Christopher's children's names have gotten me to the point where I am now stuck. Thank goodness they followed the "naming rules". See if any of these ring a bell with you. Christopher's first child was Isaac Newton Wms-b-1838, Smith Co,TN (this was my gr-grandfather). We descend from his second family ---the first ones all died. Second child was John Evans Williams-b-1842. Christopher's wife was the dau/o Nathan Evans. Third was Sarah Temple Wms. Never have found the Temple connection. Nathan Avant Wms-b-1849--the Avant was also from Christopher's wife's family. Her mother was the dau/o Abner Avant. Then there was Henry David Wms. The next dau was Cealy (Celie) Braswell Wms. That's what really makes me think this family belongs to that Wm Williams bunch. There were several instances of Braswell's marrying Wms's. The last kids are Wm Robert ! Wms, Harriet Elizabeth, Mary Frances and James. James was the only one born in Texas (1860). We live on the farm that Christopher and Elizabeth homesteaded in 1854 when they arrived here from Gibson Co. The little community we live in is "Bridges Chapel". The Bridges also came here from Gibson Co, TN a bit after Christopher. Hope this leads to something. MJ
My family surnames are Dickson/Dixon and Moore. Thanks, Madelon Dickson
