I have a few questions for list members. 1. Is there a Gibson County Historical Society? If so, who would I contact for information? 2. Are there any Gibson County Cemetery Listing Books available for sale? 3. I am familiar with Emily Walker's book on Cemeteries of Northern Gibson County Vol 1 and Vol 2. Are there any others? Thank you. Jackie Isbell Johnston

His widow, Nancy, is living with her son, Harmon/Harrison M. Wilson in Kenton Stat., Obion Co., TN in 1870. I have that their son, Charles Harrison Wilson, born abt.1841, married Annie abt.1860 in Sebastion Co., AR. He is enumerated in 1870 in Sugar Loaf, Sebastion Co., AR, as C.H. Wilson, age 28, born in TN, Annie age 29, born in TN, Eliza age 9, born in TN, and Mary age 3, born in TN. According to the pension file of Louise Brewer Wilson Dill, Charles' sister-in-law, he was living in Sebastion Co., AR in 1903. > > . > > > This is an automatically-generated notice. > > <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Gibson?admin> >

The census indicates they were originally from NC. I think the Charles is my gggggrandfather, who eventually settled in Carroll Co. TN. Charles had a son, James T., who named one of his sons Harmon, I am assuming after his grandfather (the Harmon listed on the 1850 census). A surname roll call is probably a good thing to do. Most of my surnames lived in 18th, 7th, and 3rd districts of Gibson Co. ranging from 1825 to 1847 beginnings. They are: HUNT, GAY, ALLEN, MAYFIELD, HARPER, THOMAS, TAYLOR, BOOTH, with probable co-names as: MASSEY, ADAMS, BASS, and STEPHENS. Thanks for the opportunity to advertise! Jerry A. HUNT
Harvey Leander and Alsey (PRESLAR) GILLIAM moved to Gibson County from Henderson County. They had two sons George A. and Albert M GILLIAM as well as four daughters: Amanda E. who I suspect married a DAVIDSON, Emily Elizabeth who married a MANNESS, then a NANNEY, Lovina who married a McVAY and Nancy E. who I have no other information on. George's wife was Cora and Albert's wife was Frances. By 1910 George and his wife had two sons, Clarence and Harry and Albert and his wife had a daughter, Ida, and three sons, Ernest, Fester, and Virgil. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Dianna Gilliam just peachy@greenhills.net
The grandkids just left this morning, so I'm finally catching up. My dad was born in Rutherford in 1907. He was known there as Gilliam CAPERTON. Parents were Charles A. CAPERTON and Mattie Lou SMITHSON. Mattie Lou's parents were Laura Adney GILLIAM and Sylvanus SMITHSON. Mattie Lou died in 1916. Anybody out there familiar with these families? Jane Caperton
