Hi gang, WHAT Civil War page and WHAT Chat room ??? Am I the last one to know ??? Addresses, please... Dixie Lea in K.C. (Ks.)
Chat room is working fine now! Vicki
My name is Mary Williams from St Louis, MO. My GGrandfather was William Henry Williams who lived and died in McKinsey TN. I have been researching his name in Weakley Co, but through copys of my GGrandmother's Civil War Pension Application I found out he was born in Gibson Co in 1840. I found a couple of 10 year old William Williams in the 1850 census. I do not know who his parent were and have been stuck at this point. I do know he joined the TN Volunteers in Trenton in 1861. By the way, your Civil War page is great. Any help would be appreciated. Mary Williams
I have just created a Gibson County TN chat room. Now all your Gibson researchers can get together and chat. It's a private chat room ONLY for Gibson Co. TN researchers! In the "profile" to enter, you can put your surnames you are researching. Hope you all make good use of it and enjoy it! The link is on the main page but you can go straight to the chat room by clicking: http://www12.bravenet.com/chat/show.php?userid=lb395665 Hope to talk to you all there! Merry Christmas! Vicki

Looking for some of the surname lines known to marry into my Dickens lines in Gibson Co., TN. Any info appreciated. This Dickens line and known allied family lines can be downloaded in gedcom format (will have to unzip also) [leon10.ged] at : http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/7046/ Anything gets close, don't hesitate to holler. This line has been shown to connect back to Charles Dickens (the author)- on gedcom. Not a direct descendent of this Gibson Co. line - just related. Uriah Dickens, one time Sheriff of Gibson Co., TN met with Charles Dickens on his American Tour and they worked out together how they were related. This Dickens line is also documented in Dickens of Halifax by Oliver H. Carper and William M. Mann in Southside VA Families Vol II; Hist. Southern Families Vol IX. If any of you with Gibson Co., TN lines have connected your lines to any these documents, would like to hear from you. Uriah Dickens migrated into Gibson Co., TN (from Chatham Co., NC) around 1827 where his first daughter was born. Could have possibly married his first wife (Sarah Teddar) there. At one time, ran across a relative of Uriah's (cannot recall particulars), a Revolutionary War Vet. who got a large chunk of land granted in Gibson about the time Uriah migrated to Gibson. Uriah's father, Thomas Dickens born 08 Oct 1761 North Carolina, Halifax Co.; died 23 May 1852 North Carolina, Chatham Co. (married Mollie Stevens) was a Revolutionary War Vet. Here is a glimpse of the Uriah Dickens family of Gibson Co., TN (and his 18 - and I hope that was all - children - - whew, mercy). Actually, I suspect more than one child from his first marriage - raising this total. Uriah is my Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandfather. 1) Uriah Dickens b. 1802 North Carolina, Chatham Co. d. 1875 Arkansas, Boone Co. 1st md. 15 Apr 1825 Sarah Teddar [Nothing more know on her] Children of Uriah and Sarah Teddar 1-1) Judith Ann Dickens b. 02 Dec 1827 Tennessee, Gibson Co., Humbolt d. 1866 Arkansas md. 02 Dec 1845 Tennessee, Gibson Co. In going through my notes I find a notation for a Gibson County marriage of Mittie SWINDLE to John BUSH 19 March 1892. Anyone on the list have any further information? I am curious because my husband's aunt always told me that her half brother's mother was Mittie SWINDLE GILLIAM, but in Henderson County I find a record of Phillip Riley GILLIAM marrying Mittie BUSH on 4 December 1898. I feel certain this must be the same woman but wonder if anyone on the list mighthave other information on the SWINDLES and Mittie'e marriage to John BUSH. She has been another of my brick walls for so very long! I am most anxious to discover more about her. Also, still looking for information on the children of Harvey Leander and Alcy (PRESLAR) GILLIAM who moved to Gibson County about 1880. I believe one of their daughters, Amanda, might have married a DAVIDSON. Any help appreciated. Thanks! Dianna Gilliam justpeachy@greenhills.net
