    1. [TNGIBSON] Evidence of Ownership
    2. Thomas W Davis
    3. Hello - Although my gg grandfather assigned his Gibson County property to his two brothers in 1849, I and others have been unable to locate the deeds through which he initially took possession of the property (probably in the late 1820'). Can anyone suggest how the property may have changed hands in those early days, assuming no deeds were issued? Thanks for any related advice. Tom Davis Oceanside

    1. [TNGIBSON] Luna (Flowers) Young
    2. We have been looking for years for death information of my g grandmother Luna F. (Flowers) Young, married to Tom Young. Her name may have been Frances Luna Young, Luna Frances Young or Luna Fannie Young. Her maiden name was Flowers. In the Gibson Co. Rutherford Register dated 26 March 1926, it states that "Mrs. Young" died "last Friday" and she was to be buried by her husband in Beth Paige Cemetery. She was living in the community of Cool Springs. We have hopes that this might be my g grandmother, Luna (Flowers) Young. Any searches we have had done so far have turned up no death information, including a request to search church records or death records with the county. Any help with this information would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance, Sharon

The father died in Greene County, Ark., in 1862, and at the time of his death was 43 years of age. He was a Whig in politics. He was but a child when his parents moved from South Carolina to Gibson County, Tenn. He was married in the last named county, and in 1859 moved to Greene County, Ark., where he passed the remainder of his days. Mrs. Hicks died in Pemiscot County, Mo., in 1869, and was 45 years old at that time. To this marriage was born a large family of children, eight now living, Ransom being the eldest. At the age of 18 he left home, hired out and worked for wages until 24 years of age, or until August 20, 1857, when he married Miss Elizabeth Biggs, a native of Gibson County, Tenn., and the daughter of Zachariah Biggs. Nine children were born to this marriage, six now living: Mary S., Sarah, Lucy E., Matilda J., George Y. and Samuel S. Those deceased are James R., Thomas E. and Francis. After marriage Mr. Hicks began farming and stock raising, and this he has since continued. In the spring of 1862 he enlisted in the Confederate army and served one year, when he was discharged on account of ill health. During that time he participated in the battle of Cane Hill. He and family moved from Gibson County, Tenn., to Dunklin County, Mo., where they resided two years. He then moved to Greene County, Ark., and from there, in 1863, to Pemiscot County, Mo. He is now the owner of 1,300 acres of good land, all the result of hard work and good management. He is a member of the Wheel, is a Democrat in his political views, and he and his wife are members of the Baptist Church.

    1. Re: [TNGIBSON] spontaneous decision
    2. I think you did a wonderful thing. My husband and I finally located his maternal grandfather's grave. He died in 1923 in AR, and I am sure the family could not afford to purchase a headstone for his grave. We had one made and personally supervised the setting. It was very rewarding. The family was very appreciative. We believe everyone deserves a memorial of their time here on earth no matter how small or great their accomplishments. Myra
