    3. Dennis, I am SOOOOO sorry--I never saw this message until now! I was unsubscribed for a short time while we were on vacation and it may have appeared then. Again, sorry--and thanks for replying! I haven't had a chance to really look this over carefully, but I do know that Phillip B Carter and Susannah Mathis are a part of my line (actually, my husband's line). Let me gather my thoughts on this, and I'll get back to you. 1. Re: [Tngibson] Searching for Hays/Hayes Families
    2. David- My GGG GF, Wm. J. Phillips married a Mary A. Ross in Rutherford Co., TN in Sept., 1831. Mary was the daughter of Madison Ross. I know this as there is a court record of the will of Madison being contested 8 Nov., 1867 in Rutheford Co. It lists several other Ross family members, incl Madison's bro. Felix Ross. I strongly suspect that this Ross family is associated with the Gibson Ross family. My Phillips moved to Gibson Co. in 1860's as they were there in the 1870 Census (at the Trenton P.O. Census area). They were still in RU CO. in the 1860 census. Living with my Phillips family in Gibson Co. in 1870 was a Martha Ross, age 10. I do not remember if the census listed relationship but I assumed it was probably a niece. Mary Ross Phillips was 57 by then. Rex Phillips- Dallas

I am researching Baker's. I have a John Baker and wife Elizabeth Williams in Smith co. early 1800's. They had 2 children that married Hurt's. Morgan W. Baker m. Elizabeth Hurt, and Patsey (Martha) Baker m. James Hurt. I have not traced these lines, but their sibling Elizabeth Baker m. John Luckey in Smith Co. 2 of their children moved to Madison/Gibson co - right on the line by about 1845- proved by marriage of son Joseph B. Luckey to Susan Ann Baker in Madison Co. I have notes that Morgan W. Baker and wife Eliz Hurt moved to Dyer Co NE of Madison and Gibson and had 12 children. These Baker's were from NC originally. The Luckey's ended up near Medina and then Humboldt and are still there. Maybe there's a clue there. Teri
