I've just been scanning all the messages being posted about the State Coordinator position. To some it's a "bloodless" coup; as for me, I'm not concerned. I feel sure that the person named is well qualifed. However, we County Coordinators ought to have more say in who gets the position. Democracy has made our country a great place to live - we ought to incorporate it into TNGenWeb. We County Coordinators could rebel against and refuse to work with the new person, but I don't think that would do much for TNGenWeb - such action could well jeopardize the project. Let me propose that we move toward a more democratically run organization as follows: I move that we accept the newly named person. I further move that a month from now we have an election for assistants to the State Coordinator (SC) - at least two. These assistants would work closely with the SC, helping in the decision making, and when necessary, filling in for the SC. Anyone wishing to be on the ballot for assistant would submit their qualifications on this forum - this to be the only campaigning allowed. I further move that we have an election one year from now for the State Coordinator position. Those assistants which we elected would have gained the knowledge and some experience that would give them give them a valuable qualification for the the SC position should they decide to run in the election. However, any County Coordinator or interested person could choose to enter the race because of the way our election would be carried out (as I further move in the next paragraph). I move that in the election one year from now the person receiving the most votes for SC be considered to be elected as such. The next highest vote would be elected as an assistant, and the next and the next, until the number of assistant positions are filled. Anyone else have any ideas? Jim Pulley Wilson Co. CC
