To Athol and the list, I offer my apologies to the list. I misread the file name and my answer did not fit the question. These mishaps occur when I try to walk across the room and chew gum at the same time. So I offer again my apologies for any confusion that I might have caused. Fred, I wasn't talking about the Graphics page. I was talking about the /adoptco/ page. They have added the requirement to have the logo after the thing with Mary and Pam. That is what I was talking about. I have known about the graphics page all along. Hello everyone from the Great Hot State of Texas! Humphreys county votes for TNGenNet and 1/2 of Perry votes for TNGenWeb... KIDDING! Actually count both for TNGenNet...heat has gotten to me. On the serious side...I am in Dallas for two weeks, will return after August 9th if for some strange reason you need to email me...just go right ahead. Have laptop will travel. I don't get to my email daily but about every other day or so. Sorry the queries will be delayed (unless I can download HotDog lite (if there is such a thing) or some other program to use on my laptop. Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have a cd rom in it. So there is no confusion...Perry (1/2) and Humphreys for TNGenNet. Alisa
Athol, Actually, the pages of graphics were added many many months ago, it was announced to the list, it was my idea to create the graphic directory, so as to help find things. The green logo, I made, you can find it on a number of county pages such as Monroe Co. The face logo was made from a photo made by my wife at Ellis Island NY. Bridgett made the gold logo which is on the main TNGenweb page. If the pages in the graphics directory show a recent date, it is probably because Bridgett has been changing things to update the instructions because of the change in URL to tngenweb.org. Here is my old copy of the page with old URL, before Bridgett did the link fixies. At the bottom, my date for my version is 22 Jan 1998. Fred and all, I see that this has been added to the /adoptco/ the 19th of Jul. How convenient. Or was it done later than that even, and that date put on the page. Greetings all. On our "TNGenWeb County Host Guidelines" page we will find the requirements of page county and page identification. http://www.tngenweb.org/adoptco/ "Your main page will display the USGenWeb logo, and optionally a TNGenWeb logo. If you do not wish to display a TNGenWeb logo, the word TNGenWeb must be used, along with the name of your county. (For example: Greene County Genealogy, a TNGenWeb project)" We do not have a specific TNGenWeb logo that is the one and only official absolutely must be used or the page police will get you logo. We do have three logos that may be used and they can be found on this page. http://www.tngenweb.org/graphics/page9.htm If you do your own graphics, you may create your own graphic. If you would like, we could put it our graphics directory for others to use I have a very large (in Ks) graphic on my Warren County page. http://www.tngenweb.org/warren/ The text is: "Warren County Tennessee A TNGenWeb Genealogy Home Page" It was created from the "corner card" (return address design) of an old southern envelope from the Civil War era. If you have an interest in this, I could make a custom version for your page. I could perhaps reduce the size so the download time is also reduced. Other custom TNGenWeb logos could be made, the only limit is the imgination. Please ask. There is no cost for TNGenWeb logos. Such a deal. For everyone's information: >From http://www.tngenweb.org/adoptco/oldindex.html: Your main page should also display the TNGenWeb (coming soon) and the USGenWeb logos. Until the state logo is in place the word TNGenWeb must be used, along with the name of your county. (For example: Greene County Genealogy, a TNGenWeb project) Same paragraph from the current rules and regulations: Your main page will display the USGenWeb logo, and optionally a TNGenWeb logo. If you do not wish to display a TNGenWeb logo, the word TNGenWeb must be used, along with the name of your county. (For example: Greene County Genealogy, a TNGenWeb project) changed Thursday, July 09, 1998 The new requirement was a reduction in requirements as you can tell. And the date of change is done by my HTML program. Sure I could change it if I wanted to do so, but I don't work that way. Whether people choose to believe it or not. The current page was updated on July 19, 1998 to reflect a change in wording regarding the USIT Logo. Any other changes made on the current page for the rules and regulations was more to clarify them (i.e.making it easier to read) and no rules were changed. The only *major* change made on the rules and regulation pages since January was the addition of the requirement of those with pages on USIT having to have the require USIT logo. Am I to discuss this with the RC's and CC's when it is a requirement by our server? If so, I apologize for that. Please visit: http://www.tngenweb.org/cntylinks/ This is a project started long ago with the able assistance of Fred Smoot and Jackie Robinson, designed to help our visitors find source documents. With the exception of Goodspeed's (thank you Jane) the url's are woefully behind the times. I have added a few census listings that I was personally aware of, but please send in the urls to your pages for taxes, wills, census etc and I will get them updated before announcing this site to the public. Thank you, Nancy
