    3. Jim, Bridgett etal, I didn't vote. My life is in chaos and I didn't get a ballot --- or if I did, I didn't recognize it. As one Powell to another --- congratulations and you have my support Jane Powell. -----Original Message----- From: Bridgett Smith <bascs@snark.wizard.com> To: TNGEN-L@rootsweb.com <TNGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, February 01, 1999 7:38 PM Subject: [TNGEN-L] (Fwd) Thank You >From your new representative with the USGenWeb Advisory Board - - he, along with Yvonne, are your representatives. I would appreciate it, if you would share this with your fellow TNGenWeb Volunteers... Thanks in Advance, Jim Hi Fellow Volunteers... I want to thank "everyone" who voted in this election. I also want to commend the SE/MA Region for posting more votes than any other Region. And those of you who didn't vote, I would really like to know "why you didn't vote?" I stand here among some of the most giving people in the world, shoulder to shoulder, none above the rest. Your concerns are my concerns, your fears are my fears for I represent "you". How can I represent you if I don't hear from you? Obviously I can't. So let me hear from you. When you have a concern, throw it at me. If you are totally content with things as they are, I need to hear that too. Don't be strangers, step up and at least say "hi" A few other comments... Next time you feel like sending a "scathing" post to a list, send it to me. I won't take it personally even if you mean it that way. Maybe we can find some common ground. I always follow the rules even if I do not believe in them. So there will be no "leaks" from the Board List by me, but I will do my best to keep you informed. I will work within the system to make the process more open. But I will not allow my actions to create chaos or division. 100 votes in a region the size of ours is not a mandate. So I still need to hear from you. Keep an eye on me... Be informed... On any issues that you believe in, pro or con, let me know. I will do my best to represent "you". I believe in "YOU", all of you and I thank you for all you have done to make Free Genealogical Resources on the Internet a reality. 1. [TNGEN-L] One of our own (Knox County)
    2. I would like to take a minute to congratulate one of our own. The host of Knox County, Shane Rhyne, for making it on the local morning news. About 6:50 this morning I was laying in bed flipping channels debating the virtues of getting up and starting a new day. Then an article on the channel 10 morning news caught my eye and interest. It was about a new exhibit I believe called "The Four Horsemen". It was about four local Tennessee men who left to fight for the Union during the Civil War. Shane has a collection of their belongings on display. And guess who was telling us about it? Shane himself right there on TV. I will say that it was a very interesting looking exhibit, and as Seinfeld says "A definite must see". I'll probably stop by and have a look. I must ask Shane though on his graphic of dark blue Tennessee Counties that sided with the Union, what was that one county right in the middle that was shaded the opposite color? I usually only stop on the local morning news long enough to make fun of whatever topic they present...How to get rid of toe fungus...How to create a festive pinata...or whatever other topic they hope to win an award with, but this morning was very interesting. Way to go Shane! If you're anywhere near Knoxville, try to get by and see the exhibit. Chip Union County TnGenWeb

    1. [TNGEN-L] Re: TNGEN-D Digest V99 #44 porno sites
    2. J. HORNER
    3. To Group Unfortunately visiting an adult site is not the only way a porno site can get your E-Mail address. A visit to a site on hunting, fishing or any activity that a man might be interested in could give your address away. A lot of these sites sell their user list to anyone who will pay for them. I use a tracking service on one of my Web pages and it gives me the Url of all visitors and its not very hard to go fron an URL to an E-Mail Address. Most people use a program that searches for an E-mail adress on a Visiting computer. A Cookie is a small program that gathers information about where you go on the interner an information about your system. Another Targeted area is places that attract Teenagers. A porno site operator can get an E-mail address from your computer and target a Specific group say Male teenagers and they can use the type of site visited to closly approximate the age group to target that group. So you really don't have to visit a porno site to get on their mailing list. J. L. Now Fred, it was you who made the claim *here* on TNGEN-L that TNGenWeb is technically separate from USGenWeb. That is a blatant political statement and one that I take great offense to. 3. Fred, First of all, I will give you a big hug... this is the latest custom on USGenWeb-ALL and reduces some of the tensions there. Now Fred, it was you who made the claim *here* on TNGEN-L that TNGenWeb is technically separate from USGenWeb. That is a blatant political statement and one that I take great offense to. If you want to take it to TNCHAT-L (as you have), that is fine with me... but please don't make such obviously political statements here and not expect to get a response at least from me. I have been with USGenWeb and TNGenWeb from Day 1 (in fact, I was asked to start TNGenWeb) and have some strong feelings about this project.
