    3. Bridgett, You are missing the point. If I could vote, it would be for you. The point I am trying to make is that I don't like a few people selecting someone to represent me. 3. Bridgett, Glad to see you are asking us. During the debates over the proposed bylaws, I suggested that I (as SC for MA) would poll my TCs and CCs exactly as you are doing. I just might have forgotten (my memory isn't getting any better) if this hadn't happened here in TN. Having said that, I need to ponder which of the SC rep candidates is my choice for the TN region. Will get back. 3. Why? so everyone can vote for you of course <g> . It never crossed my mind to point out one more reason why it should be the CC's voting for this and not just the SC's <g> Pam That may be true, however, this governor has said that she will give up her personal vote for those wishes of her "constituents", which you won't find too many of those in the real politcal arena. However, Pam, since you abstained, why would you even bring that up? 1. [TNGEN-L] Open Letter to Oklahoma Indian Land Volunteers
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. Dear Oklahoma Indian Land volunteer: I am a candidate for the position of National Coordinator of the USGenWeb Project because I believe in this Project and the potential it has to become "The Resource" for genealogists of all levels of experience. You may visit the election pages to see my platform at http://www.ccgnv.net/beembranches/Elections/nominati.htm or my personal FAQ page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndgenweb/elec I first joined the USGenWeb Project in the summer of 1996. I was invited to join by an old acquaintance that I found through a listserv about South Carolina genealogy. I took a look at the Project and what the requirements were and decided to join the then fledgling band of volunteers. As a CC first and a SC later I can assure you that I know where you as a concerned fellow CC stand when you view these elections. Now two years later the Project is starting to mature. We need to define what our purpose is, how we present ourselves as a Project to the world, how we treat each other. I believe we must present a united front to the world as one Project. I don't look at the NC and Board as being big bosses telling everyone what to do but being there to run the National page, protect and promote the Project. This can also include helping the states and the CCs when asked to do so. Just as the National page is an umbrella for the states and should reflect/have national links, the state pages should reflect/have statewide links. I look to the States to assist their political subdivisions in any way they can. I look to the CCs to be creative, responsive to their users but also to be independent in their designs and presentation of the data they can collect for their sites. I believe that the CCs are the backbone of the Project. There are those who would tear down the Project for personal vendetta or personal gain. I have no such motives. If you would like to talk with me further on this or any other subject please write me at tstowell@mccallie.org. I ask that you cast you ballot for me during this election period, July 1 - 31. Remember too, if you've already voted, you can vote as often as you like. Only the last vote counts. Thank you for your time, Timothy S Stowell email - tstowell@mccallie.org Chattanooga, TN Candidate for National Coordinator USGenWeb Project - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndgenweb/elec NorthDakotaGenWeb State Coordinator - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndgenweb

    3. Athol: No on your note I missed no point. <G> Probably not on the other note sent in either. I appreciate your trust in me to vote. However, I speculate when the voting was first set up that the SC Reps will be respresenting the SC's in their region, not necessarily the CC's -- the same holds true with the CC reps, they would be representing the CC's. Just a natural way of looking at things with nothing sinister about it. There has been quite a bit of discussion regarding this on the USGenWeb-ALL list, you might be able to find it pulling a search of the mailing list on rootsweb (http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl). You may get more information than just my speculations. If my speculations are correct, though, the advisory board will be made up of twice as many CC Reps than that of SC's so the board will be in favor of the county hosts. Or as some people say, from the bottom up representation. Maybe George or Tim, could comment here, or Richard White, all three are also State Coordinators (or Richard was until recently when he decided to step down). All 3 have been SC's longer than I have also. Maybe there was a mistake when they set up the voting this year. I wasn't on the election committee nor on the by-laws committee, I can't speak for those folks. Although I do feel that this voting process we are going through is also a learning process, that nothing was done by either committee in a sinister fashion, or had sinister motives behind them. I know some people would disagree with me on this but that's my true feelings. Now my next statement will sound like a campaign speech I know, and it is falling on people who can't vote for me -- but I will remember the disatisfaction with the way the voting for representatives are being done this year -- "and if elected" <VBG> I will do what I can to make it so everyone can vote for all representatives. But "if elected" remember I am just one voice out of the many. Bridgett On 2 Jul 98 at 21:03, TNGEN-L@rootsweb.com wrote: > Bridgett, You are missing the point.
