I am searching for information on William Riley Tankersley. Riley was born in Walker Co., GA 14 Feb 1835. He married Rebecca Wilson, daughter of Wask Wilson, around 1857 in Franklin Co., TN. Riley enlisted in TN during the Civil War. He divorced Rebecca after the war and moved to Jackson Co., AL where he is present on the 1870 census with just his children. He then married Mary Ann Pruitt, daughter of Burroll Pruitt, 2 Apr 1874 in Jackson Co., AL. Apparently he and family moved back to Franklin Co., TN where they are present on both the 1880 Federal Census and the 1890 Veteran's Census. He and Mary were in Hot Spring Co., AR by 1911 where he applied for his military pension. Is anyone out there researching this line? Thank you. Rochelle White

Ovie WINKLER b. 11 Aug. 1896, Lexie, Tn. (died Park City, Tn.) m. Dewey Brewer Nellie Paralee SITZ WINKLER's family came to Franklin County, Tn. in 1870 from DeKalb County, Alabama. Her father was Andrew SITZ and her mother was Sarah ELLIS. Andrew SITZ operated a grist mill owned by Robert Mann and Azariah David in Franklin Co., Tn. His daughters later worked in the adjacent textile mill, which became known as Falls Mil. I would like to know anything concerning these families, especially who the parents of Levie Benton Winkler, Andrew Sitz, and Sarah Ellis Sitz were. I know she died in Wise County, Texas in April of 1891. Her parents were Teressa Rogers and "Kitt" Simpson. I think "Kitt" was Allen J. Simpson son of Rice Simpson. Hello Franklin County, Tennessee researchers! I hope you will enjoy being on this list. I will kick it off with a query (and confession) of my own. For many years I was off on a wrong line on my HENLEYS. This was due to a genealogy that had been done many years ago and I built upon it erroneously. I proved that the line was incorrect in 1995 and have since been trying to get the word out. (And, yes, DAR is wrong)<very repentant> William Alexander HENLEY, b. 1780/90, d. 1842, Franklin Co., TN was NOT the son of Thomas Osborne HENLEY of Fluvanna Co., VA. I cannot identify William's parents or his wife. His first child was John HENLEY, b. 12 Nov. 1809, VA and married Susannah SUITER. They are my 2nd great-grandparents. Any ideas on William?
