historial marker near the gwynn's island bridge/Va/ in 1778 The Battle Of Cricket Hill. On the shore were General Andrew Lewis,commanding the Virgina forces,erected a battery facing a stockadedcamp on Gwynn's Island. Established by Governor LORD DUNMORE,July 1778. The fire from this point,Cricket Hill, damaged the camp and the Britich Ships and forced the evacation of the Island & a little later, Dunmore put out to sea. The Gwynn's were Tories, how much did they lose? They moved south to Tenn. some of our people are related. Susanna Gwynn md Isaac Beaty ,they had Lucy Catherin who md Joel Lindsy Reagan Lois 3 times gr gran mother, Is there a grave site for Gwynn/Beaty in Fentress co. I plan on making a memorial for them on FIND A GRAVE/ web--all the way back to the BOAT. Any help ,appreciated. Bill n Lois
