Muncie - Jimmie L. Cooper, Sr., 69, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, March 25, 2011 at Integra Specialty Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on August 24, 1941 in Jamestown, TN the son of Barney McCoy and Velma (Adkins) Cooper and moved to Muncie in 1958. Mr. Cooper was employed at New Venture Gear for twenty-four years prior to his retirement. He was also a mechanic working out of his garage. He was a member of True Light Baptist Church and Avondale Sympathy Club. Surviving are his wife of forty-eight years, Jackie; three sons, Jimmie L. Cooper, Jr. (wife, Tonya), Muncie, Terry Cooper (wife, Mary), Hartford City, and Bobby Cooper (wife, Lynn), Jamestown, TN; eight grandchildren, Angie Copeland (husband, Paul), Jessica Camerer (husband, Aaron), Kaylynn Johnson (husband, John), Charlotte Kellogg, Jimmie L. Cooper, III, Ashley Cooper, Tammie Cooper, and Tiffani Cooper; eight great-grandchildren; seven brothers, L. D. Cooper, Ted Cooper (wife, Roxanne), Charles Cooper, Sheldon Cooper (wife, Regina), Shelby Cooper (wife, Mary), Coy Cooper, and Steve Cooper (wife, Linda), all of Jamestown, TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, RD, Clarence, and Harlan Cooper; and a sister, Noradean Wright. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday or one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
