    3. I have been interested in my family's history for several years and, unfortuntately, the keeper of all the stories passed away a few years ago.  Sadly, I paid little attention to those stories when I was younger.  Perhaps hitting 50 last year has made the past more important to me.  Additionally, I am 4th cousin to Cordell Hull, my father (Charles Bridges, raised by Maudie Bell [Hull] & Edward Tompkins) met Sgt. Alvin York when he (my dad) was a kid.  My father was born in Armathwaite and the family burial ground is at Fellowship Baptist Church there.  I have also learned that one of my ancestors came over from England and brought with him (I can't remember right now which ancestor) the light fixtures that are now in the church in Rugby, TN.  I found this of particular interest because my husband and I visited there in 2009!  Some of that land was purchased from my ancestors also!   So ... I have a history with the Armathwaite, Jamestown, Allardt, Pall Mall areas.  In fact, my father told me that either his grandfather Edward Tompkins or someone in our family was once the sheriff of Jamestown.   My dream now is to someday retire in Tennessee, if not in the actual Smokey Mountains area, then perhaps in Fentress County.  Now I know why my aunt Marjorie (Tompkins) Ellis always lovingly called it "down home."  Even though I never lived there (yet), it is home to me. 3. First, loving to read about all of our stories. Perhaps I got interested in genealogy because my family always seemed to be moving and I was looking for roots?!! <grin> My only stable years were early on when I lived with my grandparents -grandpa was my most favorite person - loved being part of his brothers' families. It was only as an adult that I realized the traditions we observed - food & reunions & projects were part & parcel of our families for generations. Grandpa was born in Kansas but his family is from Fentress County - line if have followed is back through Robert Owen Davidson -b.7/9/1853 (my g-grand) son of William A Davidson b-1814 (& Margaret Owen) son of Abner Davidson-1780/82? & Annie Evans. I've found connections with their line to the Howertons from Virginia but have not investigated enough. I work full-time with a longish commute so time is something I never seem to have enough of!! This year I did buy an Ancestry membership - can't wait for a couple of free days to start searching. Would love to hear from any of my Davidson/Evans/Owen/Howerton Cousins! Thank you Milly for getting this started! 3. Milly, I don't know you but from reading your letter on The Fentress website I want to say that I admire the work you do. I was in nursing for more than 30 yrs. It did my heart good to work with the elderly. They are so thankful for any thing we do for them. God Bless you. I am not able to work now, Have too many health problems but I know God will Bless you for what you are doing. Keep up the good work. Clois Terry Free. I have been trying to find our ancestors for quite some time. I went to Virginia a few months back as most of the Terry ancestors are from there. It is fun to hunt for them.my e-mail address is cterri90@g-mail.com. God Bless. On Thu, Feb 17, 2011 at 9:46 AM, <MPiros1120@aol.com> wrote: > Thank you, Bruce I try to help.
