Donald Herman Garrett was the son of Herman Milton Garrett (b. December 19, 1903, d. July 19, 1970, buried at Polk Garrett Cemetery, Pickett County, TN) and Laura Mae Winningham (b. March 19, 1904, d. May 25, 1996, buried at Cope Cemetery, Pickett County, TN) -------------------------------------- MUNCIE - Donald H. Garrett, age 76, passed away Sunday December 18, 2005 at Willow Bend Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born June 13, 1929 in Byrds Town, TN and had lived in Muncie since 1952. He was employed by Delco Battery in Muncie for 41 years retiring in 1993. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict were he received the Korean service medal and 5 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of the Eagles. He is survived by 4 children, Ronnie Garrett, Donnie Garrett, Judy (husband, Robert) Overgaard, and Tracy (husband, Phil) Anderson; 1 sister; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mae (Winningham) Garrett; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
