R.D. King has Fentress County connections. -------------------------- COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for R D King, 79, of Cookeville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, June 21, at the funeral home. Mr. King died Monday, June 19, 2006, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 30, 1927, in Monroe to the late Ambrose Marion and Nancy Choate King. Mr. King was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy as a Pvt. in WW II, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Ribbon. He was retired from automotive body work, was self-employed, owning Kings Body Shop for more than 50 years before retiring. Mr. King was a Mason and a member of the 266th Cookeville Lodge of Masons. His family includes his wife, Dorothy Pauline King; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Don and Debbie King of Summerville, Mo., and Kenneth Lee and Diane King of Saline, Mich.; a sister, Eurclea Pryor of Crossville; a half-brother, Randall King of Indiana; two granddaughters, Amanda Renee King and Lindsey Amber King, both of Saline; a grandson, Jeremy Robert King of Saline; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Epsie King, Ellean Robbins, Emma Dee Melton and Opal Reagan, and five brothers, Willie, Oral, Allard, JD and Ward King. Bro.
