I received an e-mail from someone saying that from their info, Arminda was a "Looper", rather than a Copeland. This person's grandmother was a sister to Henry Miller. Does anyone here know about that -- if indeed Arminda was a Looper? What records show this? There is a marriage record for Henry MILLER to Mindie COPELAND in Fentress County on August 27, 1917. I've also found in the 1900 Census (Putnam County) with the name "Arminda Copeland", born 5/1893, daughter of Enos and Nancy Cravens Copeland. The date of 5/1893 matches the date on her (the Arminda ? Miller) tombstone at Campground Cemetery in Fentress County. Enos and Nancy Cravens Copeland were married on January 10, 1880 in Overton County. Enos Copeland died in 1915, but I've not been able to find the burial location for his wife Nancy. I'm wondering if perhaps she remarried after he died. Although, in the 1930 Census she was still using the "Copeland" name. The Arminda Copeland (b. 5/1893) found in the 1900 Census had two brothers Mitchell and Milton who are both buried at Campground Cemetery as well. Did Nancy perhaps marry a Looper after Enos Copeland died, and is this where the "Looper" name comes into it, or are these two different "Arminda's"? If there is an Arminda or Minda or Mindie Looper, does anyone know who her parents are or have they found her with the Looper parents in the census records. I'm trying to keep my database straight, and would like to solve this puzzle. Here are the various census records I got data from: - 1900 Census: Putnam County, TN: ED# 64, District 4, Page 5A, Household 78 (Enos and Nancy Cravens Copeland family) - 1910 Census: Overton County, TN: ED# 68, District 9, Page 7A, Household 128 (Enos and Nancy Cravens Copeland family) - 1920 Census: Overton County, TN: ED# 65, District 9, Page 13A, Household 250 (for Nancy Cravens Copeland and children) - 1920 Census: Overton County, TN: ED# 65, District 9, Page 13A (ancestry.com page 10), Household 255 (for Henry and Arminda Miller) - 1930 Census: Overton County, TN: ED# 13, District 9, Page 11A, Household 164 (Nancy Cravens Copeland, living with her son Milton and his family) - 1930 Census: Overton County, TN: ED# 13, District 9, Page 11A, Household 166 (Henry and Arminda Miller family) Note from the census records how closely Henry and Arminda (Minda) are living near the Nancy Cravens Copeland family. All records (census, marriage, etc) seem to point to the fact that Arminda (Mindie) who married Henry E. Miller was a Copeland and not a Looper, but if there are records or information that shows otherwise, I'd like to know about those.
