Patty, I talked with the owner of the Eastport Boat Dock Saturday, and asked him if he knew exactly where Spurrier was, and he pointed across the lake (only a few hundred feet across) and said it was over there. So I'm thinking that Spurrier was nearer to Eastport than further up river, as I had indicated, toward Robbinstown. However, either way, it was on the north side of the Obey River (now backwaters of the Dale Hollow Lake). I have a picture of the Spurrier post office taken in/about 1905, according to what is written on the photo. Do you have that? If not, I'd be glad to email it to you. Glad you liked the Grist Mills book. I visited the site of another mill Saturday, and found a broken, but pretty good shape, millstone. Another photo or two to add to my next edition of the book. Will be very interested to see what you come up with on your visit down here in June.
