Fabian, Thanks for our response. In doing more research on the Mary Stepps of Fentress Co. Looking at the 1860 census, I find a Mary Stepp still living in the HH of one James Stepp at age 18 and the another Mary Stepp in the HH of John Stepp at age 15. This is the Mary who is supposedly md to Wm Meremon Johnson. However, in 1860 HH of Wm Meremon Johnson lists him already md to a Mary with one child Elizabeth. So now I'm questioning if he was actually was md to a Mry Stepp. According to 1860, Mary Stepp, d/o John Stepp could not have been Wm Johnsons wife. Is there any evidence or document that a Mary Stepp was actually w/o Wm Johnson? Any help/comments or feedbach appreciated! In my experience Ages in census are usually unreliable and should be treated as a barometer as to approximate time they were born.
