Norbert Whittenburg's paternal grandparents were Edmond D. Whittenburg and Melvina Abbie (Abigail) Storie, both buried at Wayne Davidison Cemetery. His maternal grandparents were John Jackson Gunter and Mary Lou (Louisa) Campbell both buried at Guntertown Cemetery in Pickett County. His mother, Dora (b. February 13, 1906, d. March 11, 1942), is also buried at Guntertown. I believe his father, Homer E. Whittenburg, who later married Nannie Margaret Gunter (b. February 25, 1919, d. February 06, 1997) , is buried at Green Acres Memory Gardens, Cumberland County, TN. Homer Whittenburg was also married to Bonnie Lue Amonett (September 01, 1906, d. October 28, 1925), who was the mother of his son, Lowell. Homer's two Gunter wives were first cousins. -------------------------------------------- Norbert H. Whittenburg Dec. 14, 1935 - Sept. 2, 2006 Norbert Homer Whittenburg, 70, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 2, 2006. A memorial service was held Sept. 4 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Arlen Bryant and the Rev. Dale Bailey officiating. Mr. Whittenburg was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Homer Edward and Dora Gunter Whittenburg. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction excavation and served in the U.S. Navy. He belonged to the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, races and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gladys Wyatt Whittenburg; daughter, Lisa (George) Robinson of Crossville; grandchildren, Tyler Edward Blaylock and Alison Marie Blaylock; and brother, James Whittenburg of Crossville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lowell, Bob and Bill Whittenburg.
