Just to let those online know that my maternal grandfather, Dock George Howard (from Jamestown) passed away on September 14. He'd had a stroke 6 weeks ago and had a heart attack on Sept 13 and then died early the next morning. Thanks so much to those online who have sent their kind thoughts to me. When I get back to Virginia, I will post his obituary information. My grandfather, Dock George Howard (b. 8/31/1920 was born in Glasgow, KY (but both of his parents were from Fentress/Pickett County) d. 9/14/2005, buried at Crockett Cemetery, Fentress County, TN). He married Hester Mae Lawson (daughter of Mack Carver Lawson and Elsie Jane Adams) on December 7, 1940. My grandfather was the son of George Washington Howard and Sarah Bell Manis (both buried at Ann Wood Cemetery in Fentress County). He grew up in Fentress County and lived there most of his life. His father's ancestors were originally from Overton and Fentress County and his mother's family was from Pickett County. My mother, Beulah Howard Stephens, was my grandparent's only child who lived to adulthood. Thanks again for the many kind thoughts. Brenda Howard Kerr

Brenda, So sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. I heard the obituary given out on the radio, but didn't realize the relationship.
