Voiles, 87, went home to be with the Lord on November 10th, 2006. He was the husband of Omia (Gunter) Voiles for 21 years. He was born in Jamestown, Tennessee on May 18th, 1919 the son of Jim and Celia (Groce) Voiles. He worked in a coal mine in Tennessee before coming to Indiana. After 30 years of service he retired from Muncie Chevrolet in August 1982. After his retirement he served as an Auxiliary Police officer in Anderson Indiana for approximately 15 years. He was a member of West Side United Baptist Church in Muncie, a member of the Masonic Lodge #730 in Daleville, the White Shrine and the Avondale Sympathy Club. Elmer had 13 brothers and sisters. Surviving are Thelma Webb of Anderson and Ralph Roysden of Muncie. Also surviving are four children, Sue Chambers (husband Jimmy), Jimmy Voiles, Patsy Taylor (husband: Jerry), and Judy Chambers; three step-children, Wilma Watters (husband: David), Millard Gunter and Janice Snodgrass (husband: Martin); 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by former wife, Marie Treadway Voiles; parents; daughter-in-law, Jama Voiles; grandchild, Mark Voiles; and great grandchildren, Patsy Shell and Michael Albin. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Larry Waters will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral Home.
