Funeral services were conducted Jan. 14 at Clarkrange United Methodist Church, with Bro. Ronald Whited and Sis. Kathie Bowls officiating. Burial was in Clarkrange Cemetery in Fentress County. Mrs. Todd was born Feb. 12, 1916, in the Indian Creek community of Fentress County, the daughter of Oscar and Viola (Beaty) Turner. The Turner family moved to Clarkrange in 1919. She attended school at Clarkrange and graduated valedictorian of the 1934 CHS graduating class, the first class at Clarkrange to graduate wearing caps and gowns. After high school, she attended Milligan College and later Middle Tennessee State University, finishing a total of three years of college education. She returned to Clarkrange where she taught school at both Roslin and Grimsley. With the onset of World War II, she wanted to do the patriotic thing, so she moved to Detroit, MI, to work in the factories. She lived and worked there for 20 years before returning to Clarkrange to live with her parents and return to teaching. She taught junior high math at Clarkrange High School for about 10 years. During this time, she kept books for the basketball teams and attended all their games. Mrs. Todd loved the Clarkrange community, Clarkrange High School and the Clarkrange Buffaloes. On March 14, 1975, Ruby married Willie Todd, her childhood sweetheart. She retired from teaching in June 1975. Ruby and Willie built a home on Lake Sherwood in Fairfield Glade where they enjoyed their retirement to its fullest. They especially enjoyed spending 4-5 months every winter in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, walking on the beach and "shelling." When they grew too old to travel to Florida, they spent their winters watching sports on television. During their marriage, they traveled across the United States and visited both Canada and Mexico. Ruby lost her beloved Willie on Nov. 23, 2003 and has spent most of her time since at her home where she enjoyed daily conversations with her sister, Bernice. Ruby dearly loved her family. She took great pride in every accomplishment made by her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Survivors include her sister, Bernice Little; stepson, Lyle Todd of Waynesboro, PA; stepdaughter, Lila Fox of Vista, CA; nephew, Lynn Shelby Little and wife Pat of Crossville; nieces, Nancy Little McClanahan and husband Janson of Crossville and Judy Turner Jones and husband Mike of Clarkrange; great-nieces, Erin Diane Little, Erica Lynn Little and Kari Michelle Jones; and great-nephews, Matthew Janson McClanahan, Colton Lee McClanahan and Steven Turner Jones.
