    3. Hi All! I'm trying to help someone else. Does anyone out there have Hogue's book, HISTORY OF FENTRESS COUNTY, that would look on Page 137 to see what it says there? Does anyone know where John CULVER, born about 1794, is buried? More information below: 1860 Fentress Co., TN; Civil District 2; June 19th: CULVER, John, age 66, TN; Nancy, age 50, NC; Stakely, male, age 19, TN; Thomas W., age 16, TN; Lorenzo D.(D for Dow), age 14, male, TN; Ludema, female, age 13, TN; Jacob, age 10, TN; ALBERTSON, Nancy J., age 3, TN; Marzietta, female, age 1, TN; CULVER, Susan, age 35, domestic, TN (Next door to Solomon and Maria ALBERTSON. John CULVER'S wife, Nancy, and some of his children are buried in the ALBERTSON Cemetery in Fentress Co., TN but there apparently is not a marked grave there for John if he is buried there. I did not find any John CULVER listed in either Fentress Co., TN cemetery book I have. The one book, FENTRESS COUNTY FOOTPRINTS, by Gary Denton Norris, does say "Nancy CULVER, ??/??/1800 03/02/1901 w, of John, see page 137 of Hogue's HFCT Albertson Cemetery". HFTC means HISTORY OF FENTRESS COUNTY. Thanks! Anna Bertram abertram@heartoftn.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Carletta M. I don't remember and probably don't have a record of whoever told me he was buried in Fentress County. I just have this crazy idea that maybe for some reason he married Martha Solomon to help her in some way, but I don't guess he would have gone to the trouble of having 2 children!!! I need to get back down to the library and see if I can find those children in some later census. You know, if you subscribe to every horn and whistle that Rootsweb has, you could look all this up on the internet. I choose not to do that. Martha would be 68 in 1900 and the kids would be 34 and 28. The girl would probably be married by that time. I have found other people that went to Missouri - some of Sampson Solomon's children went there after the war was over. Sampson was in the next household to Moses on the 1850 census and I have always figured they were related but couldn't prove it. After the 1860 census, neither Sampson nor his wife (who was a Beaty) show up. ----- Original Message ----- From: Anna Bertram To: Carletta M. I'll be interested to hear what you learn. There is a Sally CULVER distantly related to my husband in that area. Anna B. abertram@heartoftn.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Carletta M. I don't know if I mentioned that I found my grandfather on the 1880 census living in the household of his oldest sister and her family in Missouri. I had always wondered where he was for the 1880 census. I guess if I had looked more thoroughly, I would have found him but it was only after the LDS put the 1880 census online, that I did find him with a misspelled name. His sister is married to a man nearly 40 years older than she, and oddly enough a man by this same name and age was on the census in Fentress County in 1860. I find it amazing that there are two men named John Culver and both are born in 1793. However, some descendant of the man on the 1860 census says he is buried there in Fentress County, which would lead one to believe he never went to MO. I posted an inquiry on the Fentress County page. I have posted before but never got any response.
