Crossville Chronicle Published July 11, 2006 Evelyn W. Jeffers June 3, 1916 - July 7, 2006 Evelyn Winningham Jeffers, 90, of Oneida, passed away July 7, 2006. Funeral services were conducted July 10 from the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida, with Dr. James Ross and the Rev. Dennis Ford officiating. Burial followed in Carson Memorial Park. Mrs. Jeffers was born June 3, 1916, in Jamestown, with the daughter of Horace Virgil Winningham and Alma Garrett Winningham. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneida, a retired teacher having taught in the Oneida School System, a member of the Scott County Retired Teachers Association, served on the Library Board, a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, and a longtime member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club in Oneida. Survivors include her daughter, Nola Lay of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Loyd and Jimmie Jeffers of Crossville and Roger and Ann Jeffers of Hopkinsville, KY; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Daniel Jeffers; grandson, Daniel Winningham Jeffers; great-grandson, James Patrick Ross; and sisters, Wilda Johnson, Jean Thurston and Kim Yates. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
