    3. Hey Yall I think we have at least two seperate Jonathan Ellis Wood here. I am trying to retrieve my lost info and am going through the book I have also. The Crabtree family seems to be linked to more than my Wood family, I find the name Crabtree used as a middle name for one of the McFarland lines also. I have made no contections to the Crabtree family except Jemima who was married to John F. Helm. John was the son of Adam Helm and Susannah Hackler. They settled in Fentress/Overton County area after their two eldest sons, John F. and George were born in Fredrick County, Virginia. Ater Adam died in 1826 in Fentress County Susannah moved to Lafayette County, WI (1850) where some of her married children had settled. As far as the Lincoln connection, this is the first I have heard that. Of course there were plenty of Helm families as Adam had 6 brothers and 3 sisters. His father George (II) is the only son that I know of born to George I and Dorothea. He immigrated to Virginia in 1765 from Airlenbach, Odenwald Forrest, Prussia/Germany. As soon as I get things back in order I will send a post out on "my" Jonathan Ellis Wood and Jane Williams. I think I mentioned already that he was killed by his neighbor near Liberty in Casey County. There may be some court records pertaining to that.
