HURRAY for BRENDA!!!! What a surprise and relief to finally have a break through! I have been tracing this Martha Jane SMITH for years just to find out she wasnt a SMITH afterall. What luck! I had been given the wrong info from a source that listed a Martha Jane SMITH as William Gunters first wife. So with the info I have been researching the SMITHS periodicaly for approx 7 wasted years....in vain! LOL. Now the 1870 Fentress Co census for William and Jane REAGAN Gunter makes since. I have long wondered who the John was at age 10 for I knew he could not be William Gunters son. William was too young to have a child b. 1860. Now I know this John is the s/o Jane and her first husband, Andrew J Beaty. I looked to see who Jane Reagans parents were and found in 1850 Overton census a Jane age 17 in HH of Samuel and Elizabeth Reagan. Now I can begin my work on the REAGAN families! Anyone by chance know when and where Jane Reagan-Beat-Gunter is buried? Once again, I want to thank Brenda for the info!
