Crossville Chronicle obit Published July 15, 2005 Jobey L. Ledbetter April 30, 1933 - July 10, 2005 Jobey Lyle Ledbetter, 72, of Spencer, TN, formerly of Crossville, passed away July 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted July 13 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike McCoy, Mr. Ledbetter's nephew, officiating. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery in Overton County. Special music was provided by Doug Vaughn of Cookeville and the Ledbetter Singers of Livingston. Mr. Ledbetter was born April 30, 1933, in Livingston, TN, the son of Dewey Ledbetter and Verda Carlock Ledbetter. He served in the United States Army at Camp Rucker, AL, and Fort Benning, GA. He worked for 16 years at Nickleson File Company of Anderson, TN. In 1972, he moved to Crossville and worked at Cumberland Medical Center for a short time. He then went to work for TDOT. After retiring, he worked for J.R. Special Delivery of Crossville until May 2004. He was a Freewill Baptist Minister for 43 years. He was converted on Nov. 15, 1958 and baptized on Nov. 23, 1958 in Anderson, IN, by the Rev. Oliver McCowan. In his early church work, he was a song leader, then he was ordained as deacon on April 15, 1961 to serve Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson, IN. He was ordained as a minister on Dec. 3, 1962. He worked and served his most precious friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, for 43 years. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vivian Gaye Collingsworth Ledbetter; daughter, Robin Marie Palk of Spencer, TN; granddaughter, Sami Lou Palk of Spencer; son-in-law, James K. Palk of Spencer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Julian and Maxine Ledbetter of Crossville and Jesse and Mary Ledbetter of Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Ledbetter and Earl Phipps of Mt. Juliet, Carolyn Ledbetter and Jim Lowhorn of Clarkrange and Helen Ledbetter and Jim Hoover of Crossville; sister-in-law, Helen Faye Collingsworth Ledbetter of Crossville; brothers-in-law, Winifred Collingsworth and Phyllis of Somerset, KY, Cledith Collingsworth and Margaret of Ashland City, TN; uncle, John Lee Carlock and Family of Livingston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Angela Marie Ledbetter, Stephanie Elaine Ledbetter and Baby Ledbetter; sister, Kayren Louise Ledbetter McCoy; and half-brother, Wallace M. Ledbetter. Pallbearers were Mark Ledbetter, Matt Ledbetter, Joe Ledbetter, Richard Ledbetter, Randall McNew and Vince Lowhorn. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
