    2. Well you take care of those shingles....I think I told you I had them and they were very painful. Mine were open sores and didn't itch. They hurt. The doctor gave me some sort of nerve pills as shingles attack nerve endings. I had to take so many and then wean myself off. This went on for 2 months. Shingles will only attack one side of the body and anywhere. Mine started as a little pimple between my breasts..went under- down the side and around to the back. I couldn't wear anything that touched the shingles. My son had them on his lips and in his mouth and throat. He was in the hospital over two weeks. He couldn't eat so they had to feed him intravenous. He was a mess. Now there is a vaccine that will prevent them..Don't know if you can get them more than once? 3. Bill, Mine went around.....and I'm dead! :-))) I got 'em about a week before Christmas, but they didn't break out til two days before Christmas. At first it was just a lot of pain and sensitive skin. Finally, when they broke out, they were under my right arm, around to the center of my chest and ran down my arm to the wrist. Doc gave me something to help dry them up and something for pain. They're drying up, but the pain is still seriously bad if I don't take a painkiller that he prescribed. Someone I know had shingles in his eye. Now, that is dangerous! He got treatment, and didn't lose sight, but could have. I respect them! Well, I might should accept that as a challenge, and hike up there myself. But it will have to be in the spring or later, and after I get over these blasted shingles. That might be next year, from what others have told me! Seriously, yes I had figured out that there were families in the section known as Rotten's Fork by the name of Rotten. I think I have actually seen the name on documents, possibly as witness or as JP. Can't remember. And in some of my researching I found a Hossey family. I saw the cliff named Horseshoe Cliff on a google map, but we know it was really Hossey, for the family. I have learned a little more about the lumber camp, who ran it, and a little about the old school, but have to sort through the information before I can explain it all. Your memories of the newer school location are very accurate, though, or at least agree with what M. C. told me. I have yet to find anyone who has pictures of the camp or school, however. I have copies of the pictures that are in the Pictorial Directory, but now understand those to be taken on Delk Creek near the Head-O-Wolf lumber camp and the Doss Incline. Sidebar: Did you know that the Nature Conservancy had bought about 18,000 in the Pogue Creek watershed and turned it over to the Pickett State Forest for management? I tried to get permission to hike into there from the top, but the Park System says that to get to it you have to cross some private property and the owner is hostile to hikers and explorers. Hope they get that situation worked out so we can all enjoy the Pogue Creek Wilderness. But 13 years ago my usband died and I needed something to fill my void...So genealogy was my fill nd still is. I already knew my mother's parents names. Both of them. I did ask my randpa WARD who his parents were and that was my beginning on the Ward side. owever I can't get past 1850 as there were so many with that surname and iven name. I still have the letter he answered giving me the names. My brick wall is my father's sister ELLEN WARD BOWLIN BROWN. I have her eath date but no surname in his Bible just Ward. So I don't know if she was BROWN when she died in 1939. In 1850 my great great grandpa was listed as JAHELA WARD and someone echipered his wife's name as SIRENE . Her name was SARY or SARAH. Maybe one ay can find more. Her maiden name was HENDERSON. I belong to ancestry.com. I pay by the month can't afford a big payment ll at once. here is another place where you can get some info and the census records or FREE. It is called HERTIAGEQUEST. If your library has it and you have card, you can access it from your home using the card. The actual census ecords are there as well as ancestry. Familysearch.org is a fairly good place to search too and they are adding hings all the time. It is run by the LDS or Mormons. But 13 years ago my  husband died and I needed something to fill my void...So genealogy was my fill  and still is. I already knew my mother's parents names. Both of them. I did ask  my Grandpa WARD who his parents were and that was my beginning on the Ward side.  However I can't get past 1850 as there were so many with that surname and given  name. I still have the letter he answered giving me the names. My brick wall is my father's sister ELLEN WARD BOWLIN BROWN. I have  her death date but no surname in his Bible just Ward. So I don't know if she was  a BROWN when she died in 1939. In 1850 my great great grandpa was listed as JAHELA WARD and  someone dechipered his wife's name as SIRENE . Her name was SARY or SARAH. Maybe  one day I can find more. Her maiden name was HENDERSON. I belong to ancestry.com. I pay by the month can't afford a big  payment all at once. There is another place where you can get some info and the  census records for FREE. It is called HERTIAGEQUEST. If your library has it and  you have a card, you can access it from your home using the card. The actual  census records are there as well as ancestry. Familysearch.org is a fairly good place to search too and they are  adding things all the time. It is run by the LDS or Mormons. If you are at a brick wall with something maybe post it and we may  be able to help. Happy searching. 2. I have most of Wilma Pinkley 's books . can I find something for you Roger York Crossville tennessee In a message dated 1/1/2011 7:22:21 P.M. Central Standard Time, abertram@dtccom.net writes: Thanks so much Milly, but Robert saw the picture in one of Wilma's books when he was at the Mundy Funeral home in the 1980s so it has to be in one of the earlier ones. Robert's mother had supplied the picture used in the book, then given it to Robert before his house burned. My guess is that it is in the 2nd book, FENTRESS COUNTY HISTORY AS I REVIEWED IT - 1987, because Robert could not remember the title, just that it was about Fentress County history. 3. Hey Listers! You are all just wonderful! So many people have helped with the search for the illusive picture of Dr. Joel Fox Bertram on his horse with a medical bag. I am very appreciative. Thank you one and all! Maybe the picture will show up somewhere one of these days. Best wishes for a wonderful 2011! Sincerely, Anna Bertram
