To: tnfentre@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, April 10, 2011, 8:09 PM Bill, When you sign in to Find-a-Grave go to "Find a Cemetery" Leave the name of the cemetery blank and just put in the state and county. It will bring up all the cemeteries that are on Find-A-Grave for Fentress County. When you click on the name of each cemetery you will get an address so you can make a list of Jamestown cemeteries if you don't want to include the whole county in your project. You will find that many of the cemeteries have names that are different from those in the book by Gary Norris or the older one by Mabel Rushton Wheeler. There are many reasons for this, one being that most country cemeteries have more than one name. Another being that names of cemeteries, especially in rural areas, change from time to time. Good luck! I am glad you are going to be posting on FAG. I find doing so to be a way I can help other people, even those far away and unknown to me, to pay back some of the kindness shown to me through my years of family research. WHERE ARE FENTRESS COUNTY TN CIVIL WAR VETERANS BURIED - I am working to identify where our Civil War Veterans are buried. If you know of burial places - please list the name & place -even if it is in an unmarked grave. Also if you know information on their families - as parents, spouse etc would be helpful, as there are many people by the same name. Thanks so Much. Kathy S. Williams

While I can fill in the lineage for the Matheny/Matheney family back from Jeanette Matheny and I know cousin Norma has used the family for First Families of Tennessee, I have come across more information on Ancestry.com. This involves a book that has an entry titled "The Matheney Family" The first sentence is, "The Matheneys are of French descent and were among the Hugenots that were driven from France in 1685 because of their religious views." Would anyone have a copy of this article or know what publication it first appeared. I do not think it is from "The Big Blue Book" from Pickett County. I have that page. Any help would be appreciated. TIA Marilyn -- "If you don't get outside every day, even for a minute, you have not appreciated what God has done. The Beaty families listed in Cumberland County, Kentucky during 1817 were the same Beaty families of Clinton County, Kentucky just a few years later. Clinton County was made from Cumberland and Wayne Counties. Check out the Beaty families of the Beaty Creek section of present day Clinton County. It has been a while since I've worked with these guys, but as I recall the other more likely possibility being considered was that Alexander was an uncle of David. I believe Alexander was the younger son of his family and there were probably other older brothers besides Andrew. My theory is that some of the nephews also moved from the Sullivan Co., TN area to the Fentress Co./Clinton Co. area when all the other Beatys came about 1800. I still think all of the Beatys in that area are related -- it is just difficult to sort them out as to relationship until we find more documentation. Sure wish a couple of good wills would turn up around there listing all the names.
