Way back in 1998 while living in the baltimore maryland area, i went to one of the private libraries and researched the Choate family. Based on a conglomerate of information received thru what was then my family (now divorced) it was discovered that a Christopher Columbus Choate came to the United States aboard the ship Cecilius thru a Baltimore port. This is the reason I went to that library. When i had gone to that library, I was knee deep in raising the kids... now that I am back in Maryland.. I am wanting to help the families that also subscribe to the tnfentre website. I do know that the Choates started in Baltimore, migrated towards Fentress County Tennessee and I have traced them to Texas. Come to find ..... (although i cant document it at the moment).. that somehow the Choates are related to Governor James V. Allred who was the Texas Governor long time ago. Just so happened, when i found this information out, that i was employed at the James V. Allred unit of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. So it seemed so "surreal" that i started with Baltimore, went to Texas and now im back in Maryland. Today, I went to a cemetery, in Bel Air, Maryland. In that cemetery a headstone with the name Choate. I've passed that cemetery probably over a thousand times (having lived here since 1979). So I went to that cemetery to take a picture of that headstone and see if could find any other Choates in that cemetery. Sure enough.............. feel free to look for the Choates at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery in Bel Air, Maryland on _www.findagrave.com_ (http://www.findagrave.com) . I was surprised to see that someone had already documented a lot of those graves, but had completely left out a husband and wife named Choate. I hope this helps anyone looking for Choate ancestors. If anyone needs me to go to that library and do some physical research for them, please dont hesitate to ask. odielion aka beckie schuster (ex wife of the direct ancestor of the Choates from Fentress County Tennessee) even tho i'm not related... that doesn't mean that the records for my kids arent being worked on still to this day :) with all respect beckie http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/TNFENTRE ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/TNFENTRE ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/TNFENTRE ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/TNFENTRE ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I have that Lewis Franklin Choate was Alma P. Choate's grandfather and her father was Isaac Monroe Choate and mother Mattie L. Delk.   The earliest Choate from Putnam Co, TN that I have in my data base was Edward Russell Choate b. 11 Jan 1852 Cookeville, Putnam, TN.  This likely means that his parents, Austin Bulger Choate and Mary Ann Barnes were there around 1850.   It sounds like the Choates of Fentress Co do tie in to the Choates of Putnam Co.   I hope that all of you plan on coming to the Fentress County History Roundup on Saturday, April 30th at the York Institute.  I will be presenting on York's Fentress Co, TN genealogy database at 6 p.m. Friday, April 30th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 516 N. 1. [TNFENTRE] Harrison Family Cemetery
    2. Martha Wallace
    3. Does anyone know where the Harrison Family Cemetery is located? This is what I know: It was most likely on the Harrison farm which was in Overton County, Tennessee, on the border with Clinton County, Kentucky, on the Wolf River. That part of Overton County became Pickett County. The cemetery has been described as actually being in Clinton County, near the state border. Is it under water? Is it on private property? One source says, "Turney Groce lives on the old home place," but I have no date for that source. I understand that the land belonged to Benjamin Harrison, who is buried there. His father, James Mason Harrison, is also buried there, as well as his brother, my GGG grandfather, William Henry Harrison, whose daughter, Susan Frances Harrison Bledsoe, raised my grandmother in Cleburne, Texas. I have looked at a variety of maps that show cemeteries, but none seem to show that one. There is a Find A Grave site for this cemetery; it was created by my cousin to show the burial places of the Harrison family and does not have a location. I will be making a trip to the area at the end of this month (April) and would like to visit the cemetery - if I can find out where it is! 3. Bill, Joel Lindsay Reagan was a brother-in-law to my g-g-grandfather John G. Beaty (died McHargue's Mill, London, Laurel Co KY of measles) and three other of John's brothers who all died in the war: David C (Battle of Mill Springs); James M. (Belle Isle Prison, Richmond VA); William R. (Flat Lick KY of disease). No evidence that Isaac (another brother of Lucy Catherine, William, John, James and David.) was in the war, as some have claimed. Of course Eliazer Ailey was too young to enter. I also have that Jonathan Hayes, who married Jane (sister of the above), served as a wagoner or teamster for the USA, got sick and furloughed home and died a few weeks later. Also that John Calvin Hill, who married Sarah Elizabeth (sister) joined the confederacy from Texas where they had moved in the 1850's. He is buried in a church cemetery in Wise Co TX. Don't know where any of these are buried, probably close to where they died, except John Hill, and I assume Jonathan Hayes was buried somewhere in Fentress Co. I don't know if you have figured it out or not, but Wilma has some of this family wrong, and it has been copied by others. So lot's of incorrect information is out there. 2. Anna L Bertram
    3. Bill, When you sign in to Find-a-Grave go to "Find a Cemetery" Leave the name of the cemetery blank and just put in the state and county. It will bring up all the cemeteries that are on Find-A-Grave for Fentress County. When you click on the name of each cemetery you will get an address so you can make a list of Jamestown cemeteries if you don't want to include the whole county in your project. You will find that many of the cemeteries have names that are different from those in the book by Gary Norris or the older one by Mabel Rushton Wheeler. There are many reasons for this, one being that most country cemeteries have more than one name. Another being that names of cemeteries, especially in rural areas, change from time to time. Good luck! I am glad you are going to be posting on FAG. I find doing so to be a way I can help other people, even those far away and unknown to me, to pay back some of the kindness shown to me through my years of family research. Anna Bertram
